This audiobook was extremely insightful in how the inner child can creep up as an adult by discussing childhood trauma, generational cycles, and being able to reclaim your life when reparenting. Each chapter tapped into a different topic that helped me understand how to best heal depending on the situation that best fit with me growing up. Personally, there was so much I learned from just listening and feeling more in tuned with how and why I do certain behaviors as an adult.

I listened during my morning commute and while doing dishes, so I could take in a chapter at a time without needing a quiet afternoon. The sections on self-sabotage and the inner critic gave me plenty to think about on the drive, especially when I caught myself using the same harsh language the book describes.

The narrator has a steady, reassuring voice that worked well for this subject. A few points felt familiar by the end, but the repetition helped the main ideas stick, and I liked having practical prompts to return to after listening.

I listened to this because inner child work can feel uncomfortable, but also necessary when old patterns keep showing up. What I liked most was the steady, compassionate approach to childhood wounds, emotional neglect, self-blame, and learning to treat myself with more kindness. The exercises felt reflective without being too much at once. It helped me understand how the past can still affect today, while giving me a calmer way to start healing.
