Simplifying drawing

I loved this book.
I picked it up originally because my cousin is an artist and I wanted to understand a little bit more about her passion.

I was not disappointed with this book, as it’s now inspired me to practice a little more drawing as a form of relaxation and even expressing what’s in my mind which sometimes words can’t describe.

The authors really did well to break down the steps so you felt like you know what you were doing,

Highly recommend,

Enjoyable Accompliment To A Brilliant Book

After getting used to the narrator's delightful and unqiue accent of saying "dawring"...I really enjoyed this audio along with the book. Been handy to have whilst re-reading the book on kindle to help me concentrate in a busy household. I originally got the book on free trial and I was so impressed I brought a copy! Selma has a very unique and nurturing apprach to help people start up or re-begin drawing again. Every paragraph gets you thinking differently about art, even questioning why you create art...but the book remains supportive through out with a 'no right or wrong way' of doing things. You are free to be you in your choice of topics and the media you choose to work with. The book primarily works in pencil but encourages the same exercises in other mediums too, though there is no pressure to use anything you don't want to. You are not frowned upon if you only ever use a bog standard HB pencil either I've found her book very supportive for the times I've come back to the drawing board after a break with no idea what I'm supposed to be doing - Selma's book has helped me back on track on more than one occasion. Portraits are a topic I dread but Selma's book helped me to try it for the first time and it went really well! If the audio is not for you I would encourage at least to purchase the book on kindle to try it out and focus on what's being said rather than the lack of colour photographs. I have many books that come and go after use, but I'm keeping this one! I'm even considering getting a hard copy too incase I can't access the digital or audio for any reason which is a first for me!

Perfect art therapy

I have always looked at art as a skill which belongs to certain people. This audiobook says that art and the ability to draw are neither a talent nor a skill. The ability to draw comes from your heart, desire, time and effort.

This book not only gives positive encouragement to explore your abilities, it provides an opportunity for one to make a significant shift in their lives through drawing, which can significantly impact your mental health and well-being. The author shares their experience to make others' journeys easier. Great opportunity here to learn a life skill and express yourself and your emotions. Very recommended.

Add Depth, Meaning, and Dimension to Your Art

I’ve been a doodler my whole life and really enjoyed drawing. I even took a few classes in college to help me with my art. Recently, I wanted to pick up the pencil again and dive into my art as a creative outlet. I came across this book and thought it could help me doodle mindlessly and have a purpose and confidence in my art. And this book did not disappoint!

This book is really helpful! It helped me understand that great artistry is about natural talent, reps, and practice. And it helped me tie into my natural artistic self that existed when I was a child.

It was so helpful to me, giving me the confidence to draw complex things like Portraits, Animals, landscapes, shadows, depth, and so much more. The most impactful chapter for me was the chapter on Depth! Depth has always been difficult for me until now.

One of the best parts of this audiobook is that you don't have to follow the instructions by ear; there's a PDF attached to help make it an audio-visual experience that can't be beat!

Hey! I can draw!

I've always wanted to draw but I've never been good at it and I thought you had to be born with the talent. This book breaks it down into easy steps so that anyone can pick it up, and the audiobook comes with a free PDF download of the book so you can follow along with the exercises. Some of the dimension and shading tips have already helped my drawings emerge from flatness. By focusing on self-expression over results, I feel freer to experiment rather than worry about being perfect. Overall it's a great resource for someone who is new like me.
