Story
Life for Victoria Lacey should be perfect. And it is - perfectly boring. Agree to marry a lord who has yet to inspire a single, solitary tingle? Why, of course. Smile as though this is not the thousandth time he's mentioned hounds and hunting? It's all in a day's work for the oh-so-proper sister of the Duke of Blackmore. Surely no one would suspect her secret longing for heart-racing, head-spinning passion. Except, perhaps, a dark stranger...on a terrace...at a ball where she should definitely not be kissing a man she has only just met.

Painfully shy Jane Huxley is the furthest thing from a diamond of the first water. Bookish, bespectacled, and, well, plain, she never expected to befriend a dissolute charmer like Colin Lacey, much less agree to help him retrieve a lost family heirloom. Fortunately, he is nothing like his cold, rigid older brother. Unfortunately, he is not above deception if it means winning a wager. And that puts Jane in a most precarious position. For Harrison Lacey, the Duke of Blackmore, protecting his family honor is not a choice, it is a necessity.

Summary
Fiona Amberly is more intrigued by the Roman ruins near her manor house than she is by balls. When her dying grandmother worries about Fiona's future, Fiona stammers that she's secretly engaged. Soon she finds herself promising that she will introduce her husband-to-be by Christmas.
Percival Carmichael, new Duke of Alfriston, is in a hurry. He's off to propose to London's most eligible debutante. After nearly dying at Waterloo, he's vowed to spend the rest of his life living up to the ton's expectations.
When Fiona tries to warn a passing coach about a tree in the road, the driver mistakes her for a highwaywoman. Evidently he's not used to seeing women attired in clothes only suitable for archaeology, waving knives. After the driver flees, Fiona decides she may as well borrow the handsome passenger....

Great narrator, disappointing story
The wonderful narration by Rosalyn Landor definitely rated 5* as always, however the content rated only 3*. It had potential; a returning soldier - promoted by default to a dukedom and who has lost a leg in the peninsula wars and an unusual girl; unorthodox, apparently unmarriageable with wild, bright red hair and a passion for archaeology. The premise interested me but I was disappointed as at times the story descended into the farcical and I found it difficult to concentrate. The talented Rosalyn Landor did her best but the unbelievable storyline let it down overall.

Not bad but...
It wasn’t a bad book, it just didn’t capture my attention in any way at all. In fact, I couldnt finish it. Again, not because it was bad, it just was blah I guess. RL did a fantastic job, as usual, and is the reason I got as far as I did.

Charming and fun ;-)
I thought this book was an entertaining Historical Romance and the kind of book that you should read when you need a diverting bit of fun. Its definitely not a detailed historical novel or a knight in shining armor adventure but this one is charming, has silly action, and humor. Rosalyn Landor narrates this book wonderfully. She is always consistently good.
Note: This book does have some sexual situations and adult conversations.
There was one chapter that Audible will need to fix. The audio skips repeatedly......I believe it was in chapter 25. I hope they fix this issue soon because it is distracting.
If you are in need of some lighthearted, silly, entertaining fun give this book a try.
I was given this book by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost for my honest and unbiased review.

Weak Hero
The hero in this story was too weak and indecisive to be a duke. He was constantly being handled and talked over. It was not compelling or attractive. If it wasn't for the narrator Roslyn landor I wouldn't have finished list

How to Capture a Duke
Filled with fast paced humor and romance, this book will keep you enchanted until the end. In the audible version, Rosalyn Landor did an amazing job bringing Rosalyn Blythe's characters to life! How to Capture a Duke is a well written and well narrated romance filled with twists, unexpected turns, and humor! I personally like the fact that there was no detailed explicit sex, that is not to say that some tastefully written sexual scenes are not present. I very much enjoyed listening to the audio version as I was occupied at the time with other things that didn't require my full attention. I'd highly recommend this book to any of my Recency Romance living friends. I listened straight through and didn't want to put it down.

I'm sorry. I couldn't even finish this
What disappointed you about How to Capture a Duke?
The story was hard to handle. Narrator was fine.
What was most disappointing about Bianca Blythe’s story?
It was boring
Which character – as performed by Rosalyn Landor – was your favorite?
The secondary character Madeline has some fire.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger! No one was rewarded for their bad behaviour. There were other more interesting stories hinted at but never followed up. I got near the end buy couldn't finish. I had already skipped parts to see if it got any better. thank goodness for the return policy.
Any additional comments?
Don't bother with this book. there are lots of fun romance novels to kill time with and this is not one of them!

Made up lovers never materialize as planned
Any additional comments?
All Fiona wants to do is dig up artifacts but everyone expects her to marry and act normal. She will go to any lengths to avoid that, so she makes up a pretend fiancé who she plans to pretend kill off later. She finds a man but he is not so keen on the idea. He intends to propose to a lady in London and he is in a hurry to get there with the jewels he is to present to her. Fiona interferes with his plan because she has promised to bring her pretend fiancé to the Christmas Ball to prove that he is real. There is quite a struggle between them regarding their conflicting plans. There is a very funny part where the locals become involved in the struggle.
The reader is excellent, as usual. Rosalyn Landor is at the top of the list of best performers of audible books. She is amazing with all voices.
