Summary
Does your dog really love you? Or, like many owners, is your dog only your best friend when you are cuddling on the couch? When you step outside your front door, is he more interested in every passing dog, bird or half-eaten bag of chips that you come across?
Does the mere thought of letting your dog off lead get your heart racing with panic?
Well that's how I used to feel, until I discovered how to control - and train - my dog using play. Now I enjoy stress-free walks wherever I take him.
I couldn't find a book that would help, so I wrote this one so that you can discover it too.
When you have finished this book, you will know:
- Why your dog does all those highly annoying things he does - and how you can stop him
- Why it's not your dog's fault but you can quickly improve any situation by following the lessons I teach
- How to find your dog's Kryptonite. This is the thing that will help you transform your naughty pooch into a delightful dog that is the envy of other dog owners
- Where the best place is to train your dog, so you can quickly eliminate bad habits, and avoid the frustration and guilt you feel when you are telling-off your dog all the time
- Who is the best person to help you improve your dog's bad habits (Hint he is standing in your shoes right now)
- What you can do today to go from being an invisible owner to your dog's superhero
- And why you don't need a degree in canine psychology to do it!
This is a complete, no BS guide to how I went from hapless dog walker to successful trainer.
I promise this book will give you the roadmap and confidence you need to train your own dog and have him following you around the park like the Pied Piper, in just six weeks!

Every dog should come with a copy of this book
My very first dog was an easy-peasy Border Terrier who just happily blended in with our family. It never even occurred to me to read a book on dog behaviour. I actually had no idea just how ignorant I really was about dogs until I came home with my very first 10 month old Australian Cattle Dog! She had well established dog-aggression issues in ANY location and was so territorial that this also extended to people who weren't part of her pack who came into our home or near our car! Suddenly I needed expert help!
I've spent hundreds of pounds on one-off consultations with expert behaviourists, I've read many excellent books specifically targeted at treating dog aggression, but there was a major gap between the point I was at and the place I needed to be in order to fully understand and implement what was in these books with confidence and accuracy. I needed a lot of hand-holding. I feel that in the 5 years that I've been reading and learning I have come a hell of a long way, but there has been an awful lot of trial and error involved along with the book learning much of which could have been avoided if I'd just been able to start with this book and build from there.
What I feel is so great about this book is that it starts with the basics. It doesn't assume you are already there (which let's face it, most of us really aren't). It gives you an insight into the way our dogs view the world and how to get that working to our advantage. How to avoid an awful lot of the pitfalls that we ignorantly fall into and that ultimately make our job that much harder going forward and how to build a solid relationship with our dogs based on what our dogs actually want and value and not what we assume they should want, but often don't. The tips and exercises in this book will really help you get to know your dog and build a rock-solid relationship with him along with a good grounding of the basic commands.
Having learned a lot the hard way I found myself nodding my head vigorously all the way through as Dom highlighted classic mistakes we've all made and key bits of wisdom which I couldn't agree with more. I also had several light bulb moments which I will take away. I must just emphasise again that I only wish this book had been around when I needed it. It's a book that really holds your hand!

A unique dog training book
I've read a lot of dog training books lately and this one is a real stand out.
Practical, helpful, simple to implement advice, with a tongue in cheek manner that is very easy to read or listen to. It doesn't just tell you what to do, but includes a program of when and where to do it. A true gem!
A lot of dog training books recycle the same methodologies, styles and attitudes - this one is refreshingly different. I will be buying copies of this book for my friends. Everyone who has a dog with "issues" should read it!

Giving dogs what they need!
I'm doing lots of research at the moment regarding how to give dogs what they need as dogs, how to help dogs be as happy as they can be, how to physically and mentally stimulate dogs etc. as I plan to set up my own dog walking business next year and want to prep as much as possible. I found this book and as it was really highly rated, thought I'd give it a whirl. I'm super happy I made the decision to buy it! It's given me lots of food for thought, loads of great advice and really focuses on what makes your dog happy and keep concentration on you rather then squirrels, other dogs etc. I'd highly recommend this book whether you're helping your own dog or have your own dog walking business - super helpful!

Not your usual dog training book A++
I found this most helpful and it's nice to know your not alone in some of the challenges to that come with your beloved pooch. The author is in no way condescending and the language and styling do not set the author up as elitist but as someone to help that has been through the pitfalls too. In its current format not one for the shy and retiring or younger family members but don't let the 'real world' language get in the way of what is a worthwhile listen/read - Nice one!
