From the best-selling author of Seven Deadly Wonders and Contest comes a thrilling racing adventure. In the world of the near future, the most popular sport is hover car racing. Superfast and dangerous, its heroes are the racers: part fighter pilot, part race-car driver, all superstar. But to get to the Pro Circuit, you must first pass through the International Race School, a brutal cauldron of wild races on even wilder courses, where only the best of the best will survive.

This is the story of Jason Chaser, a talented young racer selected to attend the Race School. He's younger than the other students. He's smaller. His trusty car, the Argonaut, is older. But Jason Chaser is no ordinary racer. And as he races against the best drivers in the world he will learn that at Race School winning is everything, that not everyone in this world fights fair, and that you never ever have any friends on the track.

I wasn't sure if I would like it or not, but it was on offer or on one of those bogof sales audible likes having & has it had good reviews I gave it a try and wasn't sorry & I'm no racing fan unless it's a fun racing game on my games console, but do like sports stories.
It really pulled me into the story.
Listen to it once but keeping it so I can listen to it again in the future.

I enjoyed this book.

This is a break from the normal type of book this author writes, no guns involved but everything else is. high octane action, bad guys everybody loves to hate, betrayal, friendship and life and death situations. In other words I was hooked until the very last engine rev. This author has a way of creating characters that you just can't help loving, in this case it was the Bug, and with everything they go through you can't help cheering along side everybody else and having your heart pounding around every bend. Everybody loves a good underdog that out smarts the competition and you certainly get that with this book. The book might am been published as a childrens book but I think it will a peel to a much wider audience and I can understand why Disney brought the film rights.
With the progress technology makes, when somebody invents the hovercar it is not surprising that a school is needed. For Jason Chaser and his brother The Bug attend is a dream but with the grueling class Schedule, the practice races and competitions soon become a nightmare. Especially when the over races don't like the young up starts. Can they and there mechanic Sally survive school let alone win a race?
I like the narrator. He narrates most of this authors work and has a good understanding of what makes a great story. He also does come good accents.

You have got to love the underdog

I first listened to this audio book many years ago and this was just as good this time around. So much so i found my self getting up early and staying up late, just so i could listen to some more. I haven't found any other book that compares to this, especially in this format. It was amazing from the first word right until the very last word. Matthew reilly never disappoints with any of his book and they are always full of great action and adventure. Sean Mangan does a very good job with the narration of this book and is easy to listen to.if you just want a top class listen then give this a try.
