About this listen

Explore what local heroes do who stay ready 24 hours a day to protect and serve us from harm’s way.

Preview from the book: "I had picked up an overtime shift in an area I was not too familiar with. The call came in as a “confirmed person on fire”. I immediately told my fiancée that I love her, and I had to go. I was attending, and luckily, my partner knew exactly how to get to the location on the freeway. As we approached, I noticed a plume of smoke from over the hill. We arrived at the given location and noticed that the smoke was still quite away. With the freeway layout, we thought it was on the opposite side and exited the next exit and turned around to go the other direction. We noticed a fireball as we entered the freeway, but ended up not being in the median but rather behind us. There was no traffic, and I told my partner to drive over the dirt median to go back. We went over a small dip and were about 100 yards away. We saw a four-door jeep fully involved in the center median. About 50 yards from there, we noticed a group of people waving us down."

Note from the author: I wanted to thank you for taking the time to listen to a few stories from my experience in emergency medical services! I hope some value was provided to you and with whatever stage you are at in your career! I wish you much safety and success!
