Summary

A full-length, stand-alone romantic comedy from USA Today best-selling author R.S. Grey.

Dr. Russell has a bad reputation around our hospital. The scrub techs say he’s cold-blooded, the nurses say he’s too cocky for his own good, and the residents say he’s the best surgeon in the world - really, just a swell guy! - on the off chance he’s within earshot.

I try to avoid him and his temper at all costs. It’s just as easy to admire his sexy, grip-it-while-he’s-ravishing-you hair and chiseled jaw from a healthy distance, preferably from the other end of the hallway...half hidden behind a plant.

Unfortunately, my plan crumbles when my trusty ol’ boss decides to swap his white coat for a Hawaiian shirt. His retirement leaves me with two terrible options: Switch specialties and spend months retraining or take an open position as Dr. Russell’s surgical assistant.

That means I have to stand near him in the OR for hours on end and anticipate his every need without letting his biting words and bad attitude intimidate me. Oh, and as if that’s not difficult enough, my silly crush on him - the one I’ve tried to stomp on until it disappears - might just be reciprocated.

It’s fine. I’m fine.

I take my job seriously. There will be no smoldering bedroom eyes across the operating table, no angry almost-kisses in the supply closet. (Well, no more of those.) What’s the phrase? An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Maybe I should go for a whole damn bushel.

The best!

Everything about this book was so thoroughly enjoyable. Aubrey is hilarious as a narrator and Lee is brilliant and totally believable. There are real laugh out loud moments, the storyline is fantastic- I was only sad to see it end. Now off to see what other books there are by RS Grey narrated by these two lovelies.

I pulled an all-nighter to finish this book!

I started this audible book and just could not stop listening. I had to know what was next then next. The characters were imaginable and relatable. The content hit closer to home than I want to admit! Start to finish the allure and intensity of Matt and Bailey did not disappoint!

Read worthy

This book is really awesome. I love the doctor/assistant romance theme. It really appeals to me to re-read it. I listened to it through audiobook and loved it. Definitely worth reading or listening to.

Love

RS Grey has proven to be one of my go-to authors. I love every single book. Perfect blend of humor, substance and butterflies in the stomach. The narrators were excellent as well... delivering the lines perfectly. If you like romance comedy, you will love this.

Thoroughly Enjoyable!

This book caught me off guard. For me it was new writer and new narrators. I loved this story of Matt and Bailey. I loved their journey and how it ended. It took me a while to ease into Aubrey Vincent’s narration, but I found Lee Samuels’ to be smooth and sexy. I may go look for another book with his voice telling the story. Meanwhile, this book is totally worth the credit!

great beginning...

I loved the beginning of this book. it was so funny and promised an entertaining listen. Although the entire book was 'good' and the narration was very good, about half way through, it just became very mediocre. it was a good storyline buf just fizzled to boring for me.

Light, Flirty and Super Enjoyable

This book was so refreshing and a great read! I don’t know why I don’t read more of R.S Grey, but I certainly will now! Hotshot doc was a breath of fresh air and I loved her use of dialogue and banter. It was so well balanced, not the typical story arc that has to have the dramatic crash and burn...it has drama but I didn’t feel annoyed by it. Maybe because I loved the girls characters and there was never really any “bad”’ guy, but I was never rolling my eyes with the super predictable plot climb, twist, dump and recover. I am even a spine fusion patient...two times over in three levels! So I found it really incredible how accurate the science and technical writing was! It just left me in a good mood every time I listened. I really loved this book! Can’t wait to try another of hers!

Enemies-to-Lovers Work Romance

Hotshot Doc was a great enemies-to-lovers romance! Bailey is a surgical assistant and has a pretty great working relationship with her boss/surgeon in the operating room. But when her boss decides to retire early Bailey doesn't have a lot of options on who to work for next in the operating room.

Dr. Ben Russell isn't known for his temper and not having a reliable surgical assistant around. So when Bailey applies as his surgical assistant he decides to take her on.

I enjoyed the terse and often tension filled relationship between Bailey and Ben. They weren't always on the same page and Ben was extremely hard on Bailey. I loved Bailey's attitude and determination to be the best surgical assistant. The reservations that Bailey has to a romantic relationship with Ben were all warranted and discussed in great detail. I appreciated that, as sometimes that part of the story in a romance is glossed over (talking to human resources etc).

Bailey and her sister Josie's relationship was a great addition to the story. I really felt for Bailey and how she had to support her teenage sister. That couldn't have been easy and we definitely feel how hard it is for Bailey to even make a decision on her own because she has to always be thinking about her sister.

I enjoyed the audiobook version of Hotshot Doc . This book was narrated by Lee Samuels and Aubrey Vincent and I think the two of them did a wonderful job portraying Ben and Bailey. Lee Samuels has a great voice and I could always feel his level of frustration or happiness in Ben while listening to the audiobook. Aubrey Vincent has such a great bubbly voice and I feel that she was perfect to portray Bailey.

The ending of the book felt a bit rushed and too perfect, but I did end up enjoying this book!
