About this listen

A Stylist must-read & a Red Magazine Best Book of 2018.

'Turning 30 is like playing musical chairs. The music stops, and everyone just marries whoever they happen to be sitting on.'

Who the f*ck is Tori Bailey?

There's no doubt that Tori is winning the game of life. She's inspired millions of women to stick two fingers up at convention with her best-selling memoir, and she has the perfect relationship to boot.

But Tori Bailey has been living a lie.

Everyone around her is getting married and having babies, but her long-term boyfriend won't even talk about getting engaged. And when her best friend Dee - her plus one, the only person who understands the madness - falls in love, suddenly Tori's in terrifying danger of being left behind.

When the world tells you to be one thing and turning 30 brings with it a loud ticking clock, it takes courage to walk your own path.

It's time for Tori to practice what she's preached, but the question is: is she brave enough?

The debut adult novel by best-selling author Holly Bourne is a blisteringly funny, honest and moving exploration of love, friendship and navigating the emotional rollercoaster of your 30s.

I’m struggling to write a review for this book, the beginning was excellent and the book is so relatable it hurts sometimes. I found myself saying YES audibly when she talks about women’s expectations in society.

It is a very clever book that examines what it means to be a woman, an it’s super relatable but the storyline is tedious at times.

The beginning of the book is excellent.

Some parts were so relatable it hurt. For anyone who was afraid to end a relationship. Anyone who has been 30. Loved every minute. The minutiae of body image issues was spot on and realistic. Narrator was great.

Relatable, funny and incitive

I loved how relatable Tor's thoughts were but I found her very negative and shallow at points. I also feel like the characters weren't really thought about that much. Disappointing ending too.

Overall point is good but rather drawn out

Simply brilliant! Could not put it down. Holly Bourne has completely managed to write the way women think.

The performance of this is fantastic! The writing is engaging and in fairness I devoured it in a day. However, I kept waiting for something to actually happen. There is no story arc, no progression at all really. It was highly relatable on many emotional levels but I wanted the ending to be the half way point.

Enjoyable but disappointing
