About this listen

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was the surprise best seller of 2011—an unprecedented mix of YA fantasy and vintage photography that enthralled audiences and critics alike. Publishers Weekly called it "an enjoyable, eccentric read, distinguished by well-developed characters, a believable Welsh setting, and some very creepy monsters."

This second novel begins in 1940, immediately after the first book ended. Having escaped Miss Peregrine's island by the skin of their teeth, Jacob and his new friends must journey to London, the peculiar capital of the world. Along the way, they encounter new allies, a menagerie of peculiar animals, and other surprises.

Complete with dozens of newly discovered (and thoroughly creepy) vintage photographs, this new adventure will delight fantasy fans of all ages.

Critic reviews

"[Heyborne] moves masterfully among the large cast of characters, creating distinct British voices for each of Jacob's peculiar friends. Heyborne's sense of timing, evident pleasure in the material, and ability to thrillingly execute the book's many dramatic moments will keep listeners riveted." (AudioFile)

This book was a great joy to read and was filled with horror, action and drama packed into 1 it's a bit strange how they swap narrators because the two sound so different and u get a surprise when you first hear it but you settle down and get used to it. I was annoyed that the last one ended in a cliffhanger but it just made me more determined to plough through the next one. I'm really enjoying these books I would recommend them to anyone who can handle with horror 😀

Amazing!😀

Love it! On my second listen of this, I do find there's lots happening in this serious and I forgot a lot by the time I'd finished the 3rd book which is why I'm listening again but i quite like that. Always notice more the second time round, also I like how we get to hear Jacobs thoughts about situations. I do find it a bit difficult to keep track of who's, who somtimes.
I love Emma In all the books her characters amazing! Also I love how different all the characters are. And they bring somthing different to the story! Also like the small bits of humour from the children.
This series has became one of my favourites I find it really original and different! Hope the films will do them justice!

Love it!

I'm obsessed with this series so I knew I was going to love this book. I read I believe the first two or three quite a few years ago and re-reading them has got me feeling a bit nostalgic. The way it is written is definitely aimed at a slightly younger audience but the world building in this is insane. All the characters are amazingly described and the plot on this one was so good. The love story between Jacob and Emma is a bit cheesy but to be honest that's what is appealing about it. The shoddy British accents coming from the narrator didn't give me the best expectations but I found I got used to it after a while. So excited to read the next one!
