Summary

Dichter Herbstnebel liegt über Ankh-Morpork, und in der Stadt geschehen seltsame Morde. Scheinbar grundlos werden ein Bäcker und ein Priester umgebracht. Auch auf den ansonsten unantastbaren Patrizier wird ein Giftanschlag verübt, den er aber überlebt. Die Verbrechen geben für Sir Samuel Mumm, den Kommandeur der Stadtwache, keinen Sinn. Die Spuren führen zu den Golems, willenlosen Geschöpfen aus Lehm, die immer nur arbeiten und noch nie Ärger machten. Doch jetzt haben sie offenbar damit begonnen, sich selbst aus dem Weg zu räumen....
