Hogfather is the fourth book in the Death series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order.
The first book in the Discworld series – The Colour of Magic – was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

I love listening to STP's world being brought to l
loved loved loved it, Christmas or rather Hogswatch favourite. Great narration, the characters came alive

revisiting Terry Pratchett
Starting to re-listen to stories read a decade ago. A good story but a bit long and some parts I had forgotten not so nice and went on too long with the villains. I thought Sian was a good reader, but the interludes with Bill Nighy made no sense. I would have preferred just Sian. Bill is normally so good but just didn't work here.

Excellent narration
Loved the narration. The usual inventive and sharply observed from TP. The ones with Death are my favourite!

Story good
I’m sorry, but I really did not enjoy the reading. If you have male and female readers why not get them to read the appropriate male and female parts. Probably counts as an old fashioned view, but it did spoil the enjoyment for me.

Love the First of the New Unabridged Versions
Tony Robinson was amazing but I couldn't get over the fact that you lost half the book. These new ones are great I'll be gradually collecting them all as they get released!

Lovely new version
As a long time Pratchett fan it was nice to hear a new version with a different cast… Very entertaining and a bit less old fashioned in style than the old audio book. Well worth a listen.

Great performances for a modern Christmas classic
I’ve not read this for years so decided to treat myself to the audiobook to listen to while doing general Christmas prep and pottering. I do like the female narrator’s voice which suits Susan well, and she has a lovely tone and inflection. My only tiny criticism might be a slight lack of humour when voicing Pratchett’s wryly observed ‘twinkly’ sound effects at certain moments. Peter Serafinowic as Death has exactly the right depth and detachment, while Bill Nighy’s cynical delivery of Pratchett’s beloved footnotes is absolutely in keeping with the tone the author always gave to the Discworld series.
I never enjoyed the Robinson and Planer audiobooks (just a personal response) though I love the entire collection of stories. These new recordings coming out are a wonderful way to enjoy the series anew, and this one in particular makes up for the horrendous TV treatment of Hogfather some years ago. More like this, please!

Ignore The Bad Reviews.
I know some Pratchett fans like to gate-keep and are a little averse to change, so having read some very bad reviews, I approached this with trepidation.
I have ALL the original Discworld unabridged audiobooks. I began collecting them with my monthly credits over 10 years ago. I have ALL the books, many in hardback. Fan for decades.
I did think Sian Clifford took a little while to find the rhythm, but once she had it she was an excellent narrator/ Susan. Her Pixie Albert was a triumph.
Putting the footnotes back in, and choosing Bill Nighy to read them, was a stroke of genius.
But the crowning glory on the whole exercise is Peter Serafinowicz as Death. He is MAGNIFICENT!
I have the next 7 on pre-order and can't wait for them to land. (I blew the last of my Christmas 24 annual credits)
It will be marvelous to hear the Witches books, previously narrated by Celia Imrie as some sort of comedies, done due justice at last.

Fun & Christmassy
I really don't understand all the bad reviews. This was excellent. I really enjoyed all her voices and it was well performed.
It was a bit jarring to have different voice actors cutting in for Death and the footnotes but I got used to it after a while.
