The best historical audiobook you'll ever hear.
Margaret MacMillan doesn't just read her wonderful book to you, she speaks directly to you as a sympathetic teacher with a full mastery of her topic. The Paris Peace conference of 1919 put in place so many arrangements that shaped the rest of the 20th century in Europe and the Middle East. Some of those arrangements are still at the heart of global tensions today. Margaret MacMillan gives you a thorough understanding of the motives and characters driving those negotiations. This is, by far, the most engaging, enjoyable and instructive audiobook I've ever heard. If only they were all as good as this.

Vital to listen to
This book is essential. If you want an understanding of how the world has taken the direction it has, give it a go - understanding the mechanics of WW1 is important, but the political decision s made afterwards are much more so. The author (and narrator) gets her points across welll - the book is well structured, beautifully read and benefits from multiple listenings. A really excellent choice.

WW1 aftermath explained
I don't think I've ever learnt so much from one book. Knowing doesn't improve the chaos but is sure helps us understand the complexities and the what if's. That fuzzy WW1 part of my brain feels less fuzzy but still has a lot of questions.

Brilliant and important history
Set of lectures by MacMillan who wrote longer book of the same name. As compelling as it is important to understanding the modern world, especially Europe.

Very interested subject and just about Germany
I had not know that Chinese troupes had dug and maintain trenches for the alaid front or acted as porters bring out supplies.
