Impressive

Any additional comments?

This is an excellent guide on Norse, Greek, and Egyptian Mythology, offers a survey of the Mythology of Greece, Egypt and the Norse. Unlike the Norse Mythology volume, which I very much enjoyed, this book offers a survey of the Mythology and offers notes on the historical and political influences of these mythological traditions and subsequent traditions; such as the transition from the Greek pantheon to the Roman Pantheon.

Great Collection

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The author skillfully summarized many of the popular and not-so-popular myths. I also liked how he covered Greek, Egyptian, Norse mythology. I never knew that the Cinderella fairy tale was based on Egyptian myth. I also saw how many of the Greek myths involving Perseus inspired Rick Riordan to create his popular series. We definitely got a lot of our stories from ancient myths. Valhalla sounds like a wild place; first everybody kills each other and then they come back to life to feast together every day. Awesome!

Where did the time Go?

Thoroughly enjoyed the book(s).

There was some freedoms given to thoughts of Atlantis but it was purely appreciated as the point was to consider all meanings and explanations.

I listened so enthusiastically that I finished this FAST!!!! Very enjoyable.

A Captivating Guide

The Greek parts are written very well and the author's passion for the subject is clear throughout. I just can't remember all those hard-to-pronounce many names. Clayton's re-telling of those old myths is considerably interesting. However, the knowledge that I got reading each story was really overwhelming. This is really a book that needs to be read by everyone.

Fantastic book

This should not be taken as a criticism of the author, because anyone with experience in these genres is aware of the issues related to textual criticism and the oral tradition underlying the preservation and transmission of the text. All in all, author Matt Clayton provides an impressive collection and representation for three extremely diverse bodies of literature. this is a great book on mythology I highly recommend.

Reference guide

I was hooked from beginning to end. I've always enjoyed these stories since childhood and would recommend these books to others who do too. The Greeks and Romans relied on the Gods to explain a variety of natural event that they were not able to explain without claim to religious intrusion. The stories they came up with are amazing!
