Summary

He is the one that never looks her way.

He is handsome and strong.

He is rough around the edges and mean.

He is everything she’s ever wanted.

He doesn’t even know she exists.

Her life is a joke.

She doesn’t step on cracks in the sidewalk.

She laughs at inappropriate times.

She talks when she shouldn’t.

She is clumsy and trips on air.

She is finally on his radar.

God help her now.

Loved the narration

Hissy Fit was my first Lani Lynn Vale novel and I have mixed emotions about this novel. I didn't like that the H didn't notice the h until the incident inspite of the fact they work together and I wished the h wasn't as clumsy as she was made out to be. I loved that the story was hilarious and there were times I couldn't stop laughing out loud. I loved that Ezra fell in love with Raleigh and her klutziness does not put him off. The story was emotional, steamy and hilarious and I did enjoy the romance between Ezra and Raleigh. I would recommend it to lovers of contemporary romance.
The audible version was narrated by Ava Erickson and Jacob Morgan. They did an excellent job with the characters and brought the story to life. They infused the right amount of emotion into the story and gave each characters their own voice. I enjoyed their narration of this novel.

Sweet and funny

Loved it. An entertaining read that got me hooked and desperate to know what the ending would be. Raleigh and Ezra went to school together but he didn't remember her. But when he finally notice her it’s explosive!

A cute story!

I must admit--at first, I was hesitant to give this a try because I didn't like the first ani Lynn Vale book I listened to, but I'm glad I did! This cute story had me swooning and laughing out loud! Not only that, but it addresses some serious high school issues as well. I liked the subplots and the heartwarming ending.

Ava Erickson and Jacob Morgan did an amazing job narrating.

Hissy Fit is a contemporary romantic comedy written in dual first-person POV and performed in dual narration. It's a standalone that ends with an HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating.

I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Cute story

Quite a refreshing read and a lovely story all in all. Makes us remember to notice and see the person inside not just what's on the outside and that love has no bounds.

When it's true love it's right and it fits and it works.

Beautifully written.

Everyone needs an Ezra

I really enjoyed Hissy Fit. The storyline was very easy and cute with some touching and sensitive topics.

Rayleigh always fancied Ezra in school but he never noticed her, she's the typical plane Jane and her awkward personality doesn't help her stand out for good reason. Now she works in the same school as Ezra and he still doesn't notice her until she clumsily gets hit by the box of condoms he's carrying in Target and he just has to make sure she's alright.

Rayleigh was very naive and could sometimes act a bit childish but it added to her character. Ezra is definitely the more mature half of the duo and his presence in the whole book just demanded your attention but not in an overpowering way. I loved his character and how he was such a role model to the students. Overall, it was a great story with loveable characters and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

3.5 stars

Ava Erikson and Jacob Morgan bring Lani Lynn Vale's Hissy Fit, the first in the Southern Gentlemen series, to life in this audio version.

In their small town, Ezra has never noticed Raleigh. She is immediately forgettable. That is until the day she knocks over wrapping paper in. The local grocery store.

From their 'first' meeting, the story of Raleigh and Ezra is adorable. She is a complete clutz and he tries to ensure her safety. It's laugh out loud funny at parts but contains a thread of a couple of serious high school issues.

Hissy Fit

I was recommended this book and I was honestly surprised there was a book by Lani Lynn Vale I hadn’t listened to yet. She is a favorite author of mine.

This book was so unlike any of her other ones and I LOVED every last second of it.
I loved Raleigh and Ezra, they really go through a lot to get to where they end up and I loved that they both worked at their relationship.

Ezra is that boy you crushed on in high school the one that never knew you existed.
And Raleigh is the shy awkward girl who was invisible until she wasn’t. I just loved their story.

Great narration, seriously these two narrators were perfect for these particular characters.
I want more in this series!

How did he not know who she was?!!

Ugh. There was so much wrong with this book that it was really hard for me to really like it. I could NOT get past the fact that they grew up in the same small Texas town, went to the same high school where he played football with her brother, now work at said high school.... yet Ezra didn’t know Raleigh’s name?

The speed in which they went from him not knowing who she was to Ezra being completely smitten with him gave me whiplash. And their first time together? The dude doesn’t even woo her. I felt like it was almost borderline assault, the way he took it upon himself to rid her of her V card while they were in lockdown during a tornado.

And her klutzy schtick got real old. The first few times it was cute, but then I just rolled my eyes every time there was another accident.

The performance, though, was great. Despite the lacks in the storyline, Ava Erickson and Jacob Morgan did a fantastic job with the material.

I kept waiting to figure out why this book is titled Hissy Fit. And the realization never came. Raleigh gets cranky about his past fling with another teacher (whom she can’t even call by name!) but doesn’t pitch a fit about it. Speaking of that teacher... Ew. That subplot where she was bedding a student I didn’t think was necessary.

Unfortunately, Hissy Fit wasn’t for me.

I loved this book!!

The humor often had me laughing until I cried. It has a great storyline, which was sometimes sweet but also touched on some unfortunately true situations.

Editing Errors

The only major thing that I need to complain about, and I’m surprised no one else has mentioned it, was the fact that chapter 18 and chapter 19 were swapped in the recording. Made it very confusing and annoying to listen to.

Ezra + Raleigh = all the heart eyes!

5 Accidental Stars

Raleigh Crusie has been in love with Ezra McDuff since high school. She’s also been invisible to him this whole time...until she’s not. Literally falling at the feet of the man is one to get him to notice her, and notice her he does. Ezra is the local football hero, turned high school coach that everyone lusts after. He never really paid attention to one of the newest teachers at the school until she falls at his feet and he drops his box of condoms on her face.

I loved the flow of this book and how adorkable Raleigh really is. Accident prone is an understatement! But, I love how Ezra just goes with the flow and is there to catch her when she does fall, which is often lol. There is so much growth throughout this story as well as lots of life lessons. Classic LLV humor, with a touch of suspense and the witty banter I’ve come to love between her beloved characters. There were many subjects touched on that I felt LLV did justice in bringing the seriousness to life. No spoilers...you’ll just have to read and find out for yourself. Great start to what looks like another great series from Lani Lynn Vale. The narrators really hit this one out of the park.

Amazing Read

This series is very different from her usual series, but I've enjoyed it so far. Although the narrators are different from the regular ones that I'm really crazy about, but they did okay. Love anything by Lani Lynn Vale, she's just that amazing.

Started strong, ended weird

I really loved this book from the start. The characters and how they interacted with each other was great. But then towards the end when it started time jumping things felt rushed and I wish there was more to the story. It was she gave hints that certain things were going to happen but at the end gave up and quickly gave resolution to it. The epilogue was weird too. Not needed at all. Narration was great, love Ava and Jacob together.

Was worth a credit to me

This story was great. There were a couple scenes that were heavily foreshadowed but when something finally happened it was less climactic then I expected. It's okay though. Some people prefer it that way. The only thing I disliked was some weird time jumps.

Example: ***SPOILERS AHEAD*** So this disabled kid gets bullied at school and our heroine jumps to his defense. Then the coach benches the entire team for being bullies and laughing etc. It's a big deal basically. Then a couple chapters later (I'm thinking a few days or weeks have gone by) Our heroine makes a comment on the bullying that happened "this morning". I'm thinking wasn't that a couple days ago?
Also, she breaks her arm near the end of the school year. Then the next chapter is the first day of the next school year and she comments on getting her cast removed last week (or some similarly short time period) I was like wait, so she had a cast on her arm for the entire summer? I know its possible to have a cast on for up-to 12 weeks but her break wasn't that bad.
Anyway, other than that, loved the story!
