When Fire Lieutenant Byric Sandstone was reported killed in action, his good friend and Lawyer Marcus hired Gabby to take care of Byric's Estate, to keep it intact, to care for his Grandmother Hattie and his three-headed Wulver Longstone. The only way she can do this is to pretend to be his Widow. Marcus forged Byric's signature and told everyone that a ceremony was performed on another planet and that she then left New Earth to join Byric as his Bound only to find on her arrival that she was now a Widow.
Gabby has spent two years in mourning as Mistress of the Manor, refusing all offers from willing males on Tarvos where all on the estate, especially Hattie treat her as part of the family. The rainy season on Tavos lasts for a month and Gabby isn't looking forward to spending it alone in the Manor. Then on the first night of the rainy season, Gabby receives a shocking surprise. One which changes everything, Byric is alive and has returned to the Manor, he was imprisoned and tortured but has managed to escape on his arrival home he's shocked to find Longstone, his beloved Wolver alive and everything as he left it. The first thing he does is take a shower, he then plans to go to bed, only to find Gabby sleeping in it!
What follows is a wonderful story, hilarious at times as two strangers find themselves lockdowned together for a month. I have to say I did enjoy the steamyness between them and how his Pretend Bound became his real Bound and I loved the way their connection and friendship morphed into love.
The storyline and characters are great, I loved Hattie, but this story isn't all laughter and steamy times, there is drama and betrayal too but no more spoilers from me you will have to listen for yourself - You Won't Be Disappointed.
The narration by Ramona Master and Patrick Zeller is excellent, they bring all the characters to life and make you feel every emotion.
