Summary

Isabella Snowley knows full well that her family are on the brink of ruin, which is why she must try to stop her brother from getting himself killed in a silly duel. Tracking down the aloof Earl of Colbourne and asking him to withdraw made perfect sense when she formulated the plan. But standing in a dark street at four o'clock in the morning has quickly shown Bella her foolishness.

Duncan Ash, Earl of Colbourne, is used to having unmarried women throw themselves at his feet in the vain hope that he might marry them, and it has given him a distaste for the ton. So when he stumbles across a young woman out alone in the middle of the night begging for an audience with him, he can only think the worst of her.

A few minutes in the company of Bella Snowley, however, convince him that he has just encountered a creature out of the common way, and that pursuing his acquaintance with her might even justify a foray back into the world of the beau monde.

With everything set against them, Bella and Duncan find out that falling in love can be surprisingly easy with someone who can make you smile. But, sometimes, life can conspire against you. Those with an interest in the fortunes of the Snowley family might have quite a different fate in mind for Bella and make her choose between her own happiness and that of the family she loves so much.

Getting better each book

I am devouring this Regency Romp series! This is the third book in the series and it is the most like a Georgette Heyer book so far. It has humour, intrigue, scandal, rogues, charming ton and a fantastic story line. Very highly recommended!!

3.5 Stars

A light and heartwarming story. I just wish that the narrator sounded more natural and that her male voices were less ponderously pompous.

Ok story, awful narration

Narration is just awful. The story may have been Ok for a relaxing listen but could get past the first few chapters due to the dire narration. In no way compares to a Heyer novel.

Great Regency Read

Loved it! Bella has so much spunk and isn't willing to lay down and let her family fall into ruin. She's such a strong character and you can't help but cheer for her and love her story. Overall such a great listen. Love the regency era books and this one certainly didn't disappoint!

V. Good

An entertaining and charming Regency romance. I listened to this in one go and enjoyed it a lot.
I loved the characters in this book and I thought that the narrator did a good job of bringing them to life.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reading audio copy.

I love this Series!

This is the third book in the Regency Romps Series, a clean Regency Romance. You can listen to this story as a standalone. Isabella and Duncan's story is sweet and beautiful. Isabelle is lovely, and funny. Duncan is handsome, and protective. I loved to follow them in their journey. The supporting characters are great. Julia Eve did an outstanding job with the narration. I love her acting! Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, The Rebel Wife. I love this Series!

Fun book

I enjoyed this one just like the rest in the series. The narrator did a great job reading and the story had a happy ending. Fairly clean it had a few small cuss words but nothing horrible.

Book #3 in Regency Romp Series Does Not Disappoint

Julia Eve does a fantastic narration to the third book in the Regency Romp Series. Elizabeth Bramwell does a great telling of a headstrong and honorable lady's romance.

Darling romp

While this story has some serious moments and in fact people get shot, the general tone of the story is humorous. It is an easy read with good characters. I wanted to slap some sense into the brother more than once as it was clear to all but him what was going on and he was stupid enough not to seek help from his family. And Belle needed some sense in the end as well but it turned out okay. I liked that she actually saved herself as needed and didn't rely on a man to do it for her even as men sought to save her and her family. The romance was atypical in that even while speaking "sweet nothings" there was some tartness and teasing banter.

The narrator did a good job. She did well making people sound lazy or sleazy etc... I enjoyed her work.
Sex: innuendo
Language: some, mostly mild. Deity
Violence: duel, shooting in self defense, verbal abuse.

His Darling Belle - Book 3; a delightful story

When Isabella Snowley tracks down the Earl of Colbourne (a sworn bachelor) in then middle of night to stop him from engaging in a duel with her brother after the brother drunkenly insults the Earl during a card game. The Earl refuses to be persuaded, but eventually decides to teach the young pup a lesson by merely shooting him the shoulder rather than mortally wounding him. Soon thereafter the Earl realizes that Bella is a unique, one-of-kind gem, and he’d be a fool to let her go.

A delightful story of Duncan trying to "catch" Bella with a dastardly villain with a like mind.

Short and sweet historical romance

Short and sweet historical romance. I liked this book because the hero didn't deny his feelings and that always annoys me. The heroine was pretty funny.. actually the whole book was pretty funny. So if you are in the mood for a humorous and sweet HR, I highly recommend this book.

Truly the best one yet.

There is nothing worse than watching your family lose everything they have, but even worse as you watch the darling Isabella’s brother being taken in and return for his foolishness lose his home, sister and everything in between. Isabella will do what needs to be done to save her family but so will two other men. This is a heart felt touching story of watching a family being torn apart and the men who love them taking control in only the way a man can. It is a story of the power of love and what you are willing to do to keep it. I so fell in love with these characters, their humor, how they stand up taking life by the horn and giving it a swing. The author shows what true passion means, how love can build a bridge and how we take care of those we love at all cost. It is heartbreaking, touching, full of smiles, laughs and even a few tears. I have fallin in love with this authors work.

The narrator did an outstanding job from her true emotions to her character voices. I always knew who was talking and how they were feeling, it really showed in her voice. Her different character voices were wonderful, she really bought the story to life. There were no volume changes, no background noise just a wonderfully delightful and very enjoyable audio that I got lost in. Her character voice were powerful, her tones right on the money. I had not listen to any of her work before but I look forward to listening to more of it.

I thought the author did a great job pulling the listener in, giving a delightful story that took you way not wanting it to end. Her characters show strength, power, passion and have become to feel like part of my family. The women stand up for their selves not backing down but also showing true passion. Her men are hard but kind, true gentleman. The romance is sweet, daring, filled with fun, thrilling, a little danger and so much passion. I truly enjoyed this from start to finish. I can’t wait to start the other ones in this series. I totally enjoyed this authors writing very much, it is one that I will listen to again.

Enjoyable

This is the third book in this series. It has a good plot and the characters are well developed and quite interesting. These are stand alones but each book does have characters from the previous. For the most part, the narrative was good, I did have trouble with understanding occasional words. There was some mild cursing, but I wasn't expecting any, that was a downer for me.

I received this for free and am leaving an unbiased review.

Best book in the Regency Romp Series so far!

His Darling Belle is an engaging sweet historical romance that includes a handsome Earl, a loving resourceful heroine, and dastardly villain. Although it is the third book in the Regency Romps series by Elizabeth Bramwell, it is nearly twice as long as the first book in the series, The Dashing Widow, with great results. I really enjoy stories with more substance and this one satisfies.

The story begins when Isabella Snowley tracks down the Earl of Colbourne (a sworn bachelor) in then middle of night to stop him from engaging in a duel with her brother after the brother drunkenly insults the Earl during a card game. The Earl refuses to be persuaded, but eventually decides to teach the young pup a lesson by merely shooting him the shoulder rather than mortally wounding him. Soon thereafter the Earl realizes that Bella is a unique, one-of-kind gem, and he’d be a fool to let her go.

As in the previous two books in the series, the plot is swift and fast-paced, and the characters very likable (except for the dastardly villain). For example, at first I thought Bella's brother was a careless fop, but by the end of the story all made sense (the dastardly villain plays a significant part in the brothers almost downfall). There is also a touching side-story involving Bella’s widowed mother and the “one that got away” from her youth, who plays a significant role in helping the brother recover from his "friendship" with the dastardly villain. [I just love it when stories include a "bonus" romance!]

Julia Eve narrated this wonderful story with aplomb. She really bought the characters to life, using a variety of distinct voices. I can’t wait to listen to the next book in The Regency Romps Series!
