Summary

A marriage offer obligated by duty; an acceptance, compelled by desperation.

At two and 20 and scarred from a fire, Philomena Pomfrett is resigned to spinsterhood, but to ease her dying brother's fretting, she reluctantly agrees to attend a London season - to acquire a husband. If she fails, when he dies, with no family and no money, her future is perilous. Betrayed once by love, Philomena entertains no notions of a love-match.

Newly titled, Bradford, Viscount Kingsley, returns to England after a three-year absence. When he stumbles upon Philomena hiding in a secluded arbor during a ball, he doesn't recognize his first love, believing she died in a fire. Yet, something about her enthralls him, and he steals a moonlit kiss. Caught in the act by Philomena's brother, Bradford is issued an ultimatum - a duel or marry Philomena.

Bradford offers marriage, but Philomena rejects his half-hearted proposal, convinced he'd grow to despise her. Then her brother collapses, and she's faced with marrying a man who deserted her once already.

Her Scandalous Wish by Collette Cameron

This is definitely one romantic short novel.. a bitter sweet ending for me but definitely a happily ever after one. And oh her wish.. is indeed and undeniably scandalous.

Lovely romance - love lost and found

I enjoyed Her Scandalous Wish. It is book three in Cameron’s Waltz with a Rogue series. This is a short novella with only eight chapters and an Epilogue, so it makes for a superb Sunday afternoon read or listen to. I have both the book and the audio book. Stevie Zimmerman does a great job reading. I love her British accent. She makes the characters come to life

Wishes

Bradford left England because he believed Philomena died in a fire. Philomena believes that Bradford has abandoned her because she was scarred in that same fire. When they accidentally meet at the Wimpleton’s Ball, they must confront the misconceptions and discover if they have a second chance for love. The true villain of this story is awhile dead, but two families are burdened with the painful consequences of his actions.

There is no action to speak of in this one. It is told through dialogue, and Stevie Zimmerman does an excellent job of capturing the emotions in each character, the joy of reunion, the sadness of illness, the happiness of love, and the humor of Aunt Muriel. I enjoyed this short, emotional, story of second chances. It is a wonderful tale that started with a wish (two, actually).

Intriguing and exciting

I really enjoyed this story. Philomena and Bradford went through so much. Giles and Phil were the best brother and sister combo I could think of. I enjoyed this story so much and I was sad for it to end. I would definitely recommend it!

An unexpected meeting

A scarred woman hiding in a garden has her former beau come upon her. She thinks he abandoned her years ago, he thought she died. She needs a husband, he wants things in order before taking a wife. Will spending time together renew their love? I received a complimentary audio and this review is voluntary.

...

This was my first experience with an audio book. The narrator did a good job of changing her voice to bring in other characters. The hero and heroine we witty and fun, so were the family member that were introduced. It was easy to imagine how sick Giles was based on the voice of the narrator and the writing of the author. I would listen to this again and any others.

An endearing story

This was such an endearing story. I really felt for Philomena, she had suffered in the fire and lost her love, Bradford. Now, years later Bradford has returned and they meet at a ball. Bradford had thought that Philomena had died in the fire. Is it possible that their love for each still exists? Things do not go smoothly. Both Philomena and Bradford are very likeable characters but his aunt was a delightful added extra.
The narrator read the story with expression and different voices to bring life to each scene. She had an easy voice to listen to. This isn’t too long, just right for when time is limited.

Heartfelt!

Such an emotional story this one was. Bradford thought his young love Fil had died in a fire. He discovered her years later at a social gathering with her brother Giles. Then they had obstacles in the way. Stevie was the perfect narrator for this one. Don’t miss it!
