Summary

Christina.... "Okay, yeah...I know revenge isn't right but come on, it's the super rat from high school and he doesn't even recognize me! I've got the perfect plan to get even. What can go wrong?"

Bill.... "Man, she's smoking hot and so adorable! There's just something about her that attracts me like gravity. Okay, yeah...maybe I shouldn't be blackmailing her into pretending to be my fiancée to fool my stubborn, moneybags father but she's perfect! And my plan is perfect too! What can go wrong?"

William.... "You give your children everything and what do you get in return? Disappointment and heartburn! If my dirty, rotten son and the girl think they can fool me with their phony scam, they've got another thing coming. I'm going to force them to marry for real. That'll teach them! My plan is perfect. What can go wrong?"

So...who will win? And how disastrously can "revenge go wrong" for everybody?

Bit too long

I read somewhere that this story was originally a screenplay that was turned into a book, and I can tell. There are so many deviations from one persons POV to another that it can give you a bit of whiplash. Especially listening to it, I was often thinking, who is this now?

It wasn’t just the two main characters either. There was the maid, Bill’s father, his mother, Christina’s bestie, Jenny, and I think Bill’s bestie Jack had a moment. And there was no headed up when a new POV would appear.

That being said, there were several really funny moments, and I’m a fan of the narrator, so those things kept me on track. I did jump ahead after skimming a few chapters just after Bill and Christina got together. But all-in-all it was kinda enjoyable.

OMG I loved it, I hated, I laughed and cried

I loved that this audio was so long and was really in depth with all the characters backstories and then launched into what was really happening. What got my panties in a twist was pure idiocy if the lead characters. I would scream communication people!!!! I would laugh at the way they treated and or talked to each other. Despite how wrong it was. I would have to offer pause and ask myself “I hope I don’t know anyone who thinks like this. Who thinks that people from high school are the same after 5 or even 10 years” Trust me it’s a hard pill to swallow to know that there are such individuals. This audio is beautifully performed by Carly Robins. She brought all the characters to the table and really pulled this through. A true romantic comedy

Childish

Listened tot his book on a flight and layover. Sounds like a bunch of teenagers caught up in some childish stuff. Sad I wasted an audible credit on it. Didn’t care for it and wouldn’t recommend it.

I couldn’t even finish the book

The characters were supposed to be 30 years old, but it felt like a middle school love story.
The story could have finished up in 5 hrs. I still have 4hrs left and can’t listen for 1 more minute. Thank god I did not pay for this book!

Stupid story ruined by the narrator

The 30 year old main character sounds and acts like a 12 year old with her stupid rants, raves, and revenge. The narrator only makes it worse with her shrill reenactment of the tantrums. I'm only half way through and am giving up. Every little thing sets her off and then she realizes that she can turn it to her advantage, but only after she has a screaming fit and does something childish like smashing a cake into her handsome nemesis. I give up.

The food fight at dinner, I laughed out loud.

What about Carly Robins’s performance did you like?

How strong she is, and yet vulnerable.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I almost did, I started the book before work and finished it by the next morning.

Any additional comments?

This is an enjoyable read.

I did not like this book

Kindle needs to stop recommending books for me. I found this book to boring. Story might be good for a teenager. But after the 5th Chapter I wasted my free book on it.

Just for giggles.

It didn’t make me laugh out loud...Just giggles. I am pretty much on a fence if it’s a 3 or 2 stars. I dig the storyline but there is extreme non-sense bickering with one another, unnecessary jealousy throughout the phases in their lives, or just plain silly and impossible scenarios that occurred among the characters. I guess I wouldn’t mind that all if it was laugh out loud kind of book. It did drag a little too long for me as well but maybe it was meant to be a slow-burn. I don’t know what to say but I think it got potential and just needed a little more work on it: Just tighten it up a bit. It was still amusing and light kind of read.

sappy over dramatic

I wonder if the author actually thought through this storyline, then just just smashed some words in between, decided it wasn't long enough then added more stupid drama, the most entertaining character was the "H"'s father William sex scenes were vapid and when I hear a or read a female supposedly 30 yr old refer during a suppose sexual scene as "female parts" I was about ready to lose it.. wtf and the same female lead refer to her mother as mommy while crying and carrying on God, I was disgusted this book was a hard no for any female who has any self respect 👎
