Mari is one of my favourite crime writers and I’ve read all of the Kate Daniels books so this time thought I’d try a book with narration! Big mistake for me, just can’t get away with the narrators voice, seems like there’s no emotion or intonation, I’m trying my best to stick with it but think I’ll be purchasing the ebook instead. Shame as I love to listen to books in the car.
The story is great as usual for Mari, she brings the characters to life and her knowledge of procedures is brilliant which I can say with some authority having done the ‘Kate Daniels’ role for many years.
My advice would be try a sample first!

Was enjoying it until near the end when Aaron escaped his school. Daniel’s would have had to leave the force for not safeguarding Aaron when she knew his school. This totally spoilt the last hour of the book & an unforgivable mistake!

Thoroughly recommend this audiobook, superbly read by Coleen Pendergast. Gripping story expertly told. 5 stars.
