Summary

Anything can happen behind closed doors....

The gripping new novel from the author of bestseller The Next Girl. Her Final Hour will have you hooked!

Melissa Sanderson is the perfect wife and mother. She dotes on her daughter and lives in her dream home in a quiet cul-de-sac in the suburbs.

But looks can be deceiving.

Something is amiss in that house - all the neighbors think so. Some say Melissa is having an affair. Others say she’s been drinking too much.

Then one night, sirens wake up the whole neighborhood.

Melissa Sanderson is dead.

An absorbing thriller with an ending you won't see coming! If you like Lisa Gardner, Robert Bryndza, or Clare Mackintosh, you’ll love this absolutely heart-stopping thriller from Carla Kovach.

Terrible!

Unrealistic characters, story line was weak and sensitive topics were written about in a clunky amd clichéd way..

Is this another rhetorical question?

I got a bit exasperated by this one, constant rhetorical questions supposed to guide you away from or towards answers leave you feeling irritated and I rolled my eyes a few too many times.
The story was sadly disappointing and there are many plot holes following the last book.

The narrator is good overall but the histerical woman voices become grating.

Rushing a main character along doesn't mean you're ramping up the anticipation. I felt as if I was being hurried through the story which in the end was a blessing because It felt as if I finished the book faster.

I won't be reading any more from this author.

Loved it, book 3 here I come

Loving the Detective Inspector Gina Harte series, I’d been looking for a new book to listen to when I found the second book so decided to listen to the first one and start at the beginning, I’m so glad I did it that way round and this one didn’t disappoint. For me the narrator is Gina Harte, loved it!
Now onto book 3.

excellent

This book is written in such a way, it's very easy to picture the scenes.
I could not stop listening, parts kept me on the edge of my seat.
the narrator is excellent too, has different voiced for each character.

Would not recommend

I liked the first book but a few hours into this one I had to finally stop because the story line started reading more like a bad slasher movie: when you start thinking how dumb a person has to be to go into the woods in the middle of the night by herself to.....I would have liked more intelligence. Not sure that I now want to buy the third one just the series.

Thriller with interesting characters

I liked this book more than I thought I would. The detective (Gina) is tender with her own flaws. The storyline is interesting with some creepy characters.

Two Very Enthusiastic Thumbs DOWN!

This was very predictable and there were no twists. If you like Lisa Gardner, you will be very disappointed with this book. If not for the narrator, I would have never made it to the end.

Meh

Trite. It killed time, and I had hope after The Next Girl, but it was really a mash up of cliches.

A good page turner, but...

After recently reading the 1st book in the series as well, I'm hoping the 3rd in the series moves away from "the deranged and abusive man mentally and physically abuses and belittles the woman he claims to love, keeping her imprisoned" theme.

Good story but...

The story was interesting, if predictable. I knew who did it after the second chapter. My biggest issue was the heroine, Gina Harte. She hasn’t got the sense God have a goose. It’s hard to believe her character is a ranking police officer who survived her 20s with her lack of self-protectiveness or common sense.
