Summary

Can I really trust a dragon with my heart?

When I show up in Black Claw with bruises on my face and a split lip, I’m not looking for another man. I’ve made enough bad choices in that department. I’m ready to lie low with my best friend and pray to god that my ex doesn’t come to find me. But Axel isn’t like any of the guys I’ve been drawn to before.

I’m not ready for a new relationship. I know that. But Axel sneaks inside my heart before I’ve even realized he’s there, and his touch sets my body alight with desire. But still, there’s something off about him. And when I find out his secret, I’m not sure I can stand the heat.

If my human ex was terrible, could a dragon be any better? He says it’s fate. Still...I’m scared to risk my heart again. But when danger comes knocking, I know Axel’s the one I need to protect me. If my human ex was terrible, could a dragon be any better? He says it’s fate. Still, I’m scared to risk my heart again.

But when danger comes knocking, I know Axel’s the one I need to protect me.

Enjoyed

Charlotte packs up and moves to be with her friend Ava after being beaten by Logan . When she arrives she’s not in a good state and is sent straight to hospital however Axel has let it be known to everyone but her she’s his fated mate. I really enjoyed this story and the strength Charlotte had to get away from an abusive partner however she’s very wary of Axel and finds it hard to trust anyone. #audiobookobsession #pinkflamingoproductions

Very enjoyable

This book shows the emotion and strength needed to get away from a relationship that is abusive. The characters are well written and Melanie brings them to life very well. #audiobookobsessionreviewer

Good story but couple was a little difficult

This is a fated mate shifter story and it is a good story. I like the family overall and the background story line is pretty interesting. I had a couple of issues with the story. This story follows Axel and Charlotte. Axel is the older brother to Mav, from the first story. Charlotte is the best friend of Mav's mate, Ava. Axel was a bit of a downer- he's a beta and throughout the story, he complains a bit that he wasn't the alpha, even though this was postured more as a genetic/scientific fact. Charlotte was running from an abusive ex and her past with men made her really disbelieving of a good person. I wasn't a fan of some of her behavior but I also understand why she acted the way she did, in part. I kind of just wish it didn't drag a bit! But with the great family and interesting story line, I'm still liking the stories overall and looking forward to the next in the series. Melanie Hastings was actually pretty good as the male characters but she affected a really high voice for the female voices and it was a bit shrill, though i could still listen. However, she did a great job differentiating between the characters and overall, she did a good job. 🎧AudiobookObsessionReviewer, AudiobookObsession

Read this one

I listen to audiobooks on my commute and while I’m doing chores. Paranormal romance is my favorite genre. I was so excited to start this audiobook after listening to the first in the series. Unfortunately, I can’t get through this one listening and will finish reading it. While the narrator has some decent female and male voices, the main voice is so meek/weak it’s incredibly hard to listen to.

Tender Hero!

I really enjoy the Roxie Ray stories! I found Axel such a dreamy and sweet character. Loved his complete devotion to his fated mate. Of course you can't have romance without drama and mess, and Roxie Ray did it well, I thought. I laughed so hard at the scene where Charlotte learns Axel is a dragon. I could totally see it in my mind, and I loved it. I think Melanie Hastings did a great job with all the character differentiation. Her men were masculine without seeming forced. Her women were feminine and reflective of their characters. Yes. Charlotte is a bit needy and flawed. I thought Hastings captured that well. The books in this series have different narrators. Usually that's not great, as a listener. But in the case of this series, I do think it works just fine. Keep them coming, Roxie!

Good book

Worth the credit. It took a little bit to get used to the voices used for the characters but once I did it was fine. I laughed a lot at this and then nearly feared a time or two. Good book. Can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Great paranormal romance

This author and series continues to impress me! The story primarily picks up where we left off with book one, with an appreciated glimpse back to fill in the details as to why Charlotte found her way to the Kingston’s home. Axel recognizes his fated mate immediately, but realizes that Charlotte has been through a traumatic experience and learning about dragon shifters and fated mates may just be too much for her, allowing her the space she needs. Charlotte on the other hand, very much attracted to Axel, knows that a new relationship is not what she needs after the raw hand she’d been dealt. What I love about this author’s storytelling is that the romance isn’t rushed. She blends real life situations into a fantasy world, and the characters are extremely down-to-earth making it feel all that more genuine, even if we are talking about dragons! Axel was every bit the protector of Charlotte, but he was also so thoughtful and sweet… handling her physically and emotionally with the upmost care and respect. Charlotte had a very flirty and feminine personality, and even though she was the damsel in distress, she reciprocated the hospitality of her friends and regained her courage and footing quite quickly when it came to meeting Asher. Her reaction was quite comical! This was my first listen by narrator, Melanie Hastings. I really enjoyed her male voices, but it took a few chapters for her female voices to grow on me, especially Charlotte’s. The performance was very well done though, and I could distinguish between characters which is always a plus with dialogue. #AudiobookObsession

Greta Series

I love how the author ties in the first book to the second without having to have read the first book it is easy to read this one. The narrator on this one was a little harder to listen to in a continuous setting I had to have more frequent brakes. However since it is a new lead character in this one it made sense to use a different narrator. #AudioBoookObsession #PinkFlamingoProductions

Hotness!

Wow, this romance novel is on fire! I loved the realness of the characters, and the plot was well formulated. It was light reading but erotic. Those "scenes" had me panting for more. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a real story with some hot action.

oh my

I really struggled to finish this book. The reason for the 2 stars for story is I ABSOLUTELY hated the narration. I just could not get into the story because of the person doing the narration. I will not listen to anything else read by Melanie Hastings if that sugary sweet, little girl voice is all she has. I just can't! Definitely NOT worth it! Was really disappointed because of this.

The story bored me

The sex scenarios were crudely written and made me cringe. Not what I hoped for in a book meant as a fun escape into fantasy. I had enjoyed book one in the series and was sadly disappointed.

Horrible! Marilyn Monroe suing Hastings

I fell asleep for several hrs while this played. Still at ch. 21 I gave up. The narrator does a bad Marilyn Monroe imitation. Herione has been mistreated by the majority of males she dates. Needed hospital care after last beating. Her family is so horrible she cant go to them for help. She is taken in by her best friends in-laws for weeks. No charge. She not only rejects them. She stays in their home for another week, eating their food, and locking herself in the room they provided. I was cursing this character OUT!
