The story was ok. It does contain DV in so check your triggers. This is a two POV and only one narrator. I understand that these book cost a lot to produce with very little in return. There are a lot of female narrators who have a fantastic voice range unfortunately the narrator for this book sounds like a child playing adult.

Charlotte has a rough time with relationships, and running to her best friends after her most recent one ended so badly sounded like such a good idea. Axel is a very patient man in taking things slow with Charlotte, but when it counts the most can he take it slow enough? I absolutely loved listening to their story, and Melanie did a wonderful job with this book. Of course the ending of this book is very fast paced and leaves you wanting more. I’m super excited to continue on with this series!

This is a fated mate shifter story and it is a good story. I like the family overall and the background story line is pretty interesting. I had a couple of issues with the story. This story follows Axel and Charlotte. Axel is the older brother to Mav, from the first story. Charlotte is the best friend of Mav's mate, Ava. Axel was a bit of a downer- he's a beta and throughout the story, he complains a bit that he wasn't the alpha, even though this was postured more as a genetic/scientific fact. Charlotte was running from an abusive ex and her past with men made her really disbelieving of a good person. I wasn't a fan of some of her behavior but I also understand why she acted the way she did, in part. I kind of just wish it didn't drag a bit! But with the great family and interesting story line, I'm still liking the stories overall and looking forward to the next in the series.

Melanie Hastings was actually pretty good as the male characters but she affected a really high voice for the female voices and it was a bit shrill, though i could still listen. However, she did a great job differentiating between the characters and overall, she did a good job.

Another great shifter Romance. good strong characters and plenty of angst. Gritty in places to balance out the story.

This book shows the emotion and strength needed to get away from a relationship that is abusive. The characters are well written and Melanie brings them to life very well.
