Summary

Fat isn't the problem. Dieting is the problem. A society that rejects anyone whose body shape or size doesn't match an impossible ideal is the problem. A medical establishment that equates "thin" with "healthy" is the problem.

The solution? The Health at Every Size program. Tune in to your body's expert guidance. Find the joy in movement. Eat what you want, when you want, choosing pleasurable foods that help you to feel good. You too can feel great in your body right now - and this book will show you how.

Health at Every Size has been scientifically proven to boost health and self-esteem. The program was evaluated in a government-funded academic study, its data published in well-respected scientific journals.

Updated with the latest scientific research and even more powerful messages, Health at Every Size is not a diet book, and after finishing it, you will be convinced the best way to win the war against fat is to give up the fight.

Just really obvious

Didn’t learn anything new here…if you have any inkling about diet culture, this just expands it to fill a space…

Yay for obesity!! Wait what???

Soooo not what I was expecting...the first couple chapters were good, and what I was expecting. Yes, you can be healthy at any size but obesity IS NOT healthy for most people. Then she started with talking about obese people living longer and are more healthy....yeah okay, tell that to my joints and my knees that hurt because there is too much weight on them.
I got through chapter 7 and called it quits. Thankfully Audible has a return option.

I'm a new person.

I'll never see my weight the same way again. I let this book sit on the Shelf for over a year. I sure wish I had not done that. I will honestly never be the same. I can now leave the shackles of diet behind and start treating my body with respect. Eating more vegetables and fruits exercising more and throwing that damn scale out the f****** window. I've wasted too much time . I plan to actually live the rest of my life. This was a great 40th birthday gift.

Every woman should read this book

The idea that weight causes a whole host of health related problems is so engrained in our belief as a society that it's almost unimaginable to believe it may not actually be true at all. Linda Bacon provides a compelling argument for us all to embrace the Health at Every Size movement and start loving our bodies as they are rather than fight against them day in and day out. Once we give up the fight we might find that we settle into a far more comfortable place both physically and mentally. This really is a must read if we want to start changing our culture's perception of body weight and health.

Eye-opening, mind-expanding!

Listen to the whole thing. Refrain from judgement until you hear the entire concept. I have been blaming myself all these years. I’m having to retrain my thought patterns.

Perfect!

I enjoyed that everything she mentioned in her book that was "unconventional" was backed up by science!!! Weight does not measure health!!

Looking for excuses? This book is for you.

If you are looking for excuses, or other people to cheerlead why being fat and staying fat is healthy... this book is the one.
While weight is NOT any indication of someone's worth as a person, it is an indication of health. Not all health, but in many areas.
This book does nothing but justify and celebrate obesity, illness, sickness and unhealthy eating choices.
There ARE good and bad food choices, just like health choices... just like there is no healthy smoking in moderation.

Worst book ever

I feel like this was 100% justification for being fat. I really hated it. It was not value other than to convince everyone it was okay to be fat.
