Summary

"When we stand before crucial thresholds in our lives," observes Irish poet and philosopher John O'Donohue, "we have no rituals to protect, encourage, and guide us as we cross over into the unknown. For such crossings, we need to find new words."

In To Bless the Space Between Us, O'Donohue presents an adaptation of his thought-provoking book of the same title, providing comfort and insights to illuminate the passage of our life path. Following seven rhythms of the human journey - Beginnings, Desires, Thresholds, Homecoming, States of the Heart, Callings, and Beyond Endings - more than 80 poetic and gracious invocations in this collection can be used as tools for self-transformation, as meditations for deeper contemplation, or as simple prayers for ourselves or our loved ones.

With blessings such as "For Love in a Time of Conflict", "For Belonging", "For Equilibrium", "On Meeting a Stranger", "In Praise of Earth", and many more, these lyrical selections "will invite you to awaken your own power to bless and will suggest to you the secret world of healing and plenitude and providence that encircles, shelters, and guides your every breath and step".

To Bless the Space Between Us features the music of Irish harpist Áine Minogue.

Brilliant

I loved this book, so many diverse topics are included in the blessings. I would like to listen again and buy the book as well, since it has so many hidden layers in the words, it needs more time for me to grasp them all at the speed which John tells them.

John O’Donohue transports you through his words and the lived intention behind them to a liminal place. A gift to oneself to listen.

Sublime.

This is a most beautiful audiobook, read to perfection by John O’Donohue with his tender, Gaelic-influenced West of Ireland accent. The blessings show an extraordinary perception and connection to life. John reveals aspects which will enrich your life and allow you to see the world and its workings in a totally new way, the Celtic way.

Nourishing

This book is a balm for the soul - nourishing words spoken with such reverence for the soul’s experience in a human body. It is so lovely to listen to John’s gentle voice when he is no longer with us.

John o Donoghue’s work has transformed my spirit

John had a knack with words that I haven’t. He is able to deeply emphasise with the thoughts and feelings that I find so hard to wrestle with. But he finds a way through them which can only be love. I feel upheld and encouraged to keep going through, following his theology that leaves me feeling whole. It is completely acceptable to my heart and mind.

Insight from a great thinker and poet

For me, John O'Donohue's works are the gift of a special wisdom from the west of Ireland. It is a wisdom integrated with the beauty, drama and mystery of the Irish landscape. If you've ever stood on a headland and looked out over the wild Atlantic Ocean or walked along a beech bowed path in the gentle rain, free from the distractions of the modern world, then you will have touched this wisdom and know that with every breath you take you are being healed by a landscape that loves you. Let John O'Donoghue be your companion as you begin your new beginning.
