Summary

Anxiety - it's the worst: choking, stifling, smothering, tingling, panicking, brain cutting out, bad decisions. You're a human being, so you know exactly what's being said here.

Dr. Faith Harper lays it all out: what anxiety is, what it's good for - that's right, it's actually a necessary response that helps to keep us alive in bad situations - how to know when it's gone overboard, and practical tips on how to deal with it when it gets bad. This book is a lifesaver for panic attacks, breaking out of flight-or-fight-or-freeze responses, and for chronic anxiety. It's also good for folks who aren't daily burdened by anxiety, but want to better cope with those tough situations that affect us all. Listen to this and breathe!

Weird and cringy

So must swearing and use of word like awesome, totally and radical. Felt forced and awkward.

Too much swaering

it's quite short if we took all the swears. I know the author is trying to convince readers to f....k their anxiety but come on! Your are a 'Dr.' it looks a unprofessional.

Reassuring sleep about anxiety

Really good to hear an author drop a few F bombs and say it as it is… Although it was a little bit more theatrical with those F bombs and it felt it needed to be merging a little bit into the unnecessary. However, overall it was a good grounding in getting your shit together.

Clear quick simple and dense

I rarely hear such a well written book that is so short. It asks for your time, and makes sure none is waisted, I love that.

I'm know there's more to learn on anxiety for the scholars. However for the layman stuffing from anxiety this covers everything needed as far as I know.

I think this would be interested to both stuffers and the plain interested.

A book best suited to someone that doesn’t have anxiety

A pretty surface level book explaining what anxiety is and how it works. Not much a person with anxiety won’t already know. Lots of swearing but to be honest it felt more relatable and reassuring than some psychology books that make you feel like a difference to society

Great mini-audiobook

Be patient and listen to the book, don’t be quick to judge before giving it a chance. The book jumps straight into what anxiety is, where is it coming from and what to do to get over it on the short and long term. For me all the swearing in the book made me not to take anxiety so serious anymore.

Good practical advice

Some good coping techniques and ways to help anxiety, with information on what anxiety is. However, one part of the "Advice" is to name your anxiety. I love the concept of naming feelings such as anxiety to help regulate and understand what's being internalised. Although, the book mentions naming it after an ex?? Who wants to be reminded of an ex when having an anxiety attack?
