The Effortless Sleep Method is the approach insomniacs all over the world have been waiting for. This hugely effective method offers a simple and permanent solution for long-term and new insomniacs alike.
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The 4 Pillar Plan, written and read by Dr Rangan Chatterjee. In The 4 Pillar Plan, Dr Rangan Chatterjee presents us with an incredibly simple framework for taking control of our health. He divides health into four pillars: diet, rest, sleep and movement. By making small, easily achievable changes in each of these key areas, you can find and maintain good health - and avoid illness.
When it comes to health, there is one criminally overlooked element: sleep. Good sleep helps you shed fat for good, stave off disease, stay productive, and improve virtually every function of your mind and body. That's what Shawn Stevenson learned when a degenerative bone disease crushed his dream of becoming a professional athlete. Like many of us, he gave up on his health and his body...until he decided there must be a better way.
Now in a third edition, Robert M. Sapolsky's acclaimed and successful Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers features new chapters on how stress affects sleep and addiction, as well as new insights into anxiety and personality disorder and the impact of spirituality on managing stress. As Sapolsky explains, most of us do not lie awake at night worrying about whether we have leprosy or malaria. Instead, the diseases we fear-and the ones that plague us now-are illnesses brought on by the slow accumulation of damage, such as heart disease and cancer.
We all go through patches when we find it hard to sleep. Either we have problems dropping off at night or we wake in the early hours with thoughts buzzing round in our minds. Sometimes it seems impossible to get that elusive night's sleep we so badly crave, but this book will show you how to break negative patterns, get more rest and improve your wellbeing.
Why can some birds sleep with only half of their brain? What really happens during REM sleep? Why do our sleep patterns change across a lifetime? Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, health and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep or what good it serves or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when it is absent. In this book, neuroscientist and sleep expert Matthew Walker charts 20 years of cutting-edge research.

Like many women, Clare Pooley found the juggle of a stressful career and family life a struggle, so she left her successful role as a managing partner in one of the world's biggest advertising agencies to look after her family. She knew the change wouldn't be easy, but she never expected to find herself an overweight, depressed, middle-aged mother of three who was drinking more than a bottle of wine a day and spending her evenings Googling 'am I an alcoholic?'
Everything you need to know about self-care: what it is, why it's important and why it's such a struggle and how to integrate it into day-to-day life. There's a damaging misconception in society that putting ourselves first is an act of selfishness. But self-care is not just a millennial buzzword. Without the restorative power of self-care, how will we ever escape the vicious circle where we're sick and fed up of feeling sick and fed up?
It is everywhere around us. Even worse, it gets inside us - sapping our energy, undermining our health, and making us more vulnerable to anxiety, depression, and disease. Now, based on Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn's renowned mindfulness-based stress-reduction program, this groundbreaking audiobook shows you how to use natural, medically proven methods to soothe and heal your body, mind, and spirit.
The key to living a happier, healthier life is inside us. Our gut is almost as important to us as our brain or our heart, yet we know very little about how it works. In Gut, Giulia Enders shows that rather than the utilitarian and - let's be honest - somewhat embarrassing body part we imagine it to be, it is one of the most complex, important, and even miraculous parts of our anatomy.

Andy Puddicombe, founder of the much publicised Headspace, is on a mission: to get people to take 10 minutes out of their day to sit in the here and now. Here he shares his simple to learn, but highly effective techniques of meditation. Accessible and portable, these powerful techniques promise amazing results. Quiet the mind, feel less stressed, less tired and achieve a new level of calm and fulfillment. By following the daily exercises you will start to experience literally life changing results.
Everyone says they want to be happy. But that's much more easily said than done. What does being happy actually mean? And how do you even know when you feel it? Across the millennia, philosophers have thought long and hard about happiness. They have defined it in many different ways and come up with myriad strategies for living the good life. Drawing on this vast body of work, in Happy Derren Brown explores changing concepts of happiness - from the surprisingly modern wisdom of the Stoics and Epicureans in classical times right up until today.
Get Out of Your Mind & Into Your Life introduces Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a new approach to psychotherapy that reevaluates our most basic assumptions about mental health, and details how ACT can help you to embrace life and everything it has to offer.
Worry, embarrassment, and regret can have a toxic effect on your self-esteem, moods, relationships, general outlook on life, and your true potential.

Say goodbye to the vicious cycle of sleepless nights by retraining your brain to sleep.
Sleep well and restore the quality of life you deserve - for good.
ACT (or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) is an exciting new form of psychological therapy with a growing evidence base that points to its effectiveness. Guy Meadows has adapted ACT to the specific problem of insomnia. And it is absolutely brilliant. I would recommend this for any person who suffers from sleep deprivation or regular poor sleep. It is quite simply the most important development in the non-drug treatment of insomnia. You will need to practice the skills. If you do you will be rewarded, in sleeping better and in living your best life. I speak as a psychologist and also as someone who has experienced insomnia and been helped by this book.

With this review I want to encourage everybody who is suffering from insomnia and the fears of the consequences of not sleeping to try this book. It's unique approach of how to change the attitude towards sleep can even help people who have unsuccessfully tried everything to fix their sleep. An absolute must if you want to get your life back. The sleep problem couldn't be described and tackled any better! I am writing this as somebody who has had massive sleep problems since the age of 10. So, my message to my fellow sufferers is, give it a go!

honestly, the worst audiobook i have ever purchased.
When does it ever get to a point? ... never.
it sounds like relentless sales hype.
a complete waste of money.
I would first like to say that the narrator was outstanding. His tone of voice made me feel relaxed, the music in between chapters was also relaxing. Now, the content. This book is a 5 week programme, and that's AWESOME. It gives you time to really tackle the issue at the root. You learn so much and it works! I did struggle on week 3 but I went back to it and am now at peace at night. I sleep at 10 PM, wake up at 6 AM. This book has changed my life. As I've said it's more than just a sleep book - it's a mindfulness book. By far the best purchase I have EVER made on Audible.
What did you like best about this story?
I like best that the author really knows how an insomniac feels and thinks. Many times, I laughed because what the author described is exactly what comes to my mind when I has insomnia. It's like reading my own mind.
What does Sam Sword bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He has a convincing sound, which makes the book more inspiring.
