Summary

Extreme success, by definition, lies beyond the realm of normal action. If you want to achieve extreme success, you can’t operate like everybody else and settle for mediocrity. You need to remove luck and chance from your business equation, and lock in massive success. The 10X Rule shows you how! Success is your duty, obligation and responsibility, and this audio book gives you step-by-step guidance on how to achieve phenomenal success for yourself!

With The 10X Rule , you’ll learn to establish the amount of effort needed to guarantee success and ensure that you can continue operating at this level throughout your life. Most people desire success and have great ideas but they come up short on the amount of action required to get their lives to the exceptional levels they deserve. Four degrees of action exist, and in order to achieve your dreams, you must learn to operate at the fourth degree of action: Massive Action. The 10X Rule will dissolve fear, increase your belief in yourself, eliminate procrastination, and provide you with an overwhelming sense of purpose. The 10X Rule compels you to separate yourself from everyone else in the market—and you do that by doing what others refuse to do. Stop thinking in terms of basic needs, and start aiming for abundance—in all areas of your life. The 10X Rule guides you toward the frame of mind that all successful people share. Aim ten times higher than you are right now—and if you come up short, you’ll still find yourself further along than if you had maintained your life’s current status quo. The 10X Rule teaches you how to:

  • Reach goals that you previously thought were impossible
  • Correctly set goals and guarantee their achievement
  • Create unprecedented levels of happiness and satisfaction in every area of your life
  • Use fear as fuel to move you into action
  • Get everything you want and never have to settle
  • Dominate your competition and become a role model for success

Smug, unsubstantiated waffle

I'll save you 7 long hours of listening to a salesman go on about how great he is. The message is this: aim higher, work harder, don't hesitate and don't victimise yourself.

That's pretty much it, over and over and over. No wonder he did 4 books in 22 months, you can tell. It's a long repetitive list.

I've gained a lot of value from books in the genre (Drive by Daniel H Pink, for example), but this isn't one of them. I can't help but think if you want success at any cost, follow his lead. If you want success, respect, adoration and pride in a quality piece of work, then be selective on how you apply these ideas.

A poor version of Tony Robbins

What would have made The TenX Rule better?

I felt shouted at by the author (who also narrates this audio book). There was a lot of theory and not much real, practical help... other than do everything ten times more, longer, etc than others. It's the statement that begins to grate within 30 minutes... just do everything ten times greater than previously and expect everything to take ten times longer and the challenges to be ten times greater. I kept listening, despite it getting harder and harder and finally gave up part way through the second CD. There was nothing new in this audio book for me.

What character would you cut from The TenX Rule?

I would have preferred a less 'shouty' narrator and someone who spoke at less than a breakneck speed.

dont bother

Repetitive and not very insightful. Delivery was not an easy listen, with an aggressive and egotistical tone... "You wanna succeed, just work hard", "Work hard if you wanna succeed", "success comes from working hard".

Like being told off by your Dad

What was most disappointing about Grant Cardone’s story?

I lasted just over and hour, and had to stop. He doesn't speak in an aggressive, patronising way, but you feel you're being told off by your Dad for not doing your homework?!
That you just need to "Focus, plan and work" 10times more than you're doing at the moment. After over an hour I haven't learnt anything new, and have just had repeated "Do more than others, do 10x the amount of thinking and action you're doing now"

Really can't seen it's going to get any better, and if it does, it should have happened early in the book, before you lose interest

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Afraid not

Full of fluff and disappointment

Any additional comments?

I'm very surprised to see all those positive reviews here, are they genuine? Don't bother with this book, you will learn NOTHING new even if this is the first ever book about motivation/success/achieved you read or listen to. It's just a load of fluffy generalizations with very little practical advice or anything that would motivate you to go out and actually achieve 10x. I will have to write this purchase off as a waste of money and keep going back to Brian Tracy's "Maximum achievement" for actionable tips.

Instagram one liners and empty of any true insight

A terrible waste of my time and money. Not a single new or insightful comment, full of one liners that offer nothing more than reading something banal like Instagram.
The are books written for those who need basic show and tell, or simplistic pronounced headliners.
It dictates that success is emulating this books facile mottos, without any evidence at all. It is unqualified and there are 10x better books and writing.

This will change your life

If you read the 1 star reviews you'll see that most of these say they gave up reading. Do you really want to take advice from these quitters? People who give up? If you do, you will never be successful.

This book is amazing and should be bought, listened to and re-listened to many many times by everyone that wants to improve their lives.

I first read BOBA by Cardone and this book contains some of the same topics but they are approached from a very different angle, namely: take action now, stop thinking about it, do it and figure it out later.

It will motivate you to take action and get past those mental blocks so that you can live a truly amazing life.

I would recommend buying and listening to BOBA first, then 10x.

Amazing.

Shouty 7 and half hours on taking Massive Action

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

Really disappointing. This was a rehash of self help tomes on taking massive action with take ten times action repeated ad nauseam. With insights like "If success is a main concern for you, then I'd recommend you spend most of your time doing those things that will create success", this brings nopthing new apart from his repeated 10X tag.

I strongly disagree with his belief that most really successful people will get criticised - "You must expect criticism to come your way when you hit success". I guess that if you belive this - you attract criticism. It feels like self rationalisation and a way to deal with his feelings over people who don't rate his seminars & audio books etc. I do agree that focus on long term goals, commitment and massive immediate and sustained action are essential for success - so many other books cover this better and are more helpful on how to take that action.

If you are looking for success, then listen to the Chimp Paradox by Steve Peters and Jonathan Manske's the Law of Attraction Made Simple. Both of these provide the listener with useful psychological insights into how to take massive action. They are much more practical about how to get started and stay motivated - in your home and work life.

Would you ever listen to anything by Grant Cardone again?

No

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Cardone's style is shouty and overwhelming. It's a personal development seminar on speed - rather a book reading.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The 10X Rule?

I wouldn't publish it.

Any additional comments?

Avoid if you aren't already a fan of the author.

Ignore the 1 star Review - Excellent

I almost didn't buy when I read the 1 star review stating, "nothing new, watch him on YouTube instead"

My opinion, if you are serious about Your Success, then invest in yourself and buy this today.

Grant's no nonsense approach to pushing past obstacles and doing 10x what others expect is refreshing and gives it to you straight on what is really required to be the best in your field.

If you're a wimp then don't bother, if you want some actionable steps and advice on what it really takes then buy this, you won't be disappointed.

Annoying

What would have made The 10X Rule better?

Less use of repetitive 10 x quote all the time

What will your next listen be?

the power of now

How did the narrator detract from the book?

too repetative

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

anger

Any additional comments?

it is very sell sell book and very pushy. He sounds like a market trader with no understanding of what the customer benefits are.
