Publisher's Summary

A best seller gets even better! Every parent, teacher, social worker, therapist, and physician should have this succinct and informative audiobook in their back pocket. Framed with both humor and compassion, the book describes 10 characteristics that help illuminate - not define - children with autism.

Ellen's personal experiences as a parent of children with autism and ADHD, a celebrated autism author, and a contributor to numerous publications, classrooms, conferences, and websites around the world coalesce to create a guide for all who come in contact with a child on the autism spectrum. This updated edition delves into expanded thought and deeper discussion of communication issues, social processing skills, and the critical roles adult perspectives play in guiding the child with autism to a meaningful, self-sufficient, productive life. This new edition sounds an even more resonant call to action, carrying the listener farther into understanding the needs and the potential of every child with autism.

    "A super overview"

I am a paediatric occupational therapist so much (but not all!) of the content was revision for me, however, I think it is an outstanding book that I will be recommending to parents and relatives of children who have autism. She covers a wide range of issues in a friendly and easy to listen to manner, giving a generous insight into her own experiences of family life with her children. I was glad to have some aspects brought back to the forefront of my mind and think about more deliberately. Thankyou!

"Encouraging and optimistic take on children living with autism."

This book was just what I needed to hear as a parent of a child living with autism. Gives an honest and optimistic message about loving the child or student and setting expectations that they will live a happy life.
I would recommend this to any parents teachers or family members of a child on the spectrum.

"Wow! Take a walk in my moccasins."

Not only highly useful, but honest, real, and genuinely helpful if you have a person on the spectrum in your life. If you don't, you'll still learn a few things about listening and being a good human being.

    "Overall informative"
Where does Ten Things Every Child with Autism Wishes You Knew rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

My son was just diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. I learned a lot from the book and will listen again and take more notes.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ten Things Every Child with Autism Wishes You Knew?

She told the story about seeing a fortune teller. Perfect example of how otherwise smart and gifted people often fall for stupid shit.

What does Stephanie Cozart bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I might not make the time otherwise.

What did you learn from Ten Things Every Child with Autism Wishes You Knew that you would use in your daily life?

Make a great schedule for my son. I should have known this already since he listens so much better when there is a clear plan.

    Any additional comments?

    I would recommend this book.

"Good information with a helpful perspective,"

I found the book to be informative and encouraging overall.

The Author is quite confident in her perspective. Sometimes this is inspiring, but at other times I found it off putting.
