Plants evolved lectins as poisons to discourage insects from eating plant seeds or other parts of the plant. Lectins are in most plants, and can cause sickness in humans. Eating good plants is vital for health, but many plants we typically think of as "healthy," are actually full of lectins, which cause damage to the body.

biased review

it was an interesting listen; however, I'm well read on nutrition and GMOs - so found this book biased and sarcastic about some of the health benefits of clean eating. The writer didn't seem to understand the benefits of dietry changes and I felt comments had an undertone of mockery. Perhaps I should have read the original book rather than waste time on this version.
