Mindfulness for beginners: a simple, step-by-step guide to living in the present moment and creating more calm, joy and focus in your life.
The 21-Day Mindfulness Challenge, the eight book in the 21-Day Challenge series!
Are you tired of living on autopilot? Tired of letting your thoughts, feelings and reactions dominate you?
Are you curious about how mindfulness can make a difference in your life?
The present moment is a strange place. We are all trapped here, really, and there is utterly no other place to be, yet so few of us take a moment to stop and have a look around. The future and the past all exist in the mind. They are only ever memories, dreams, little flickers in the electrified meat we generously call our brains. The only thing that is real is the moment that is happening right now.
To get to know the present, all you have to do is be aware.
But try to become aware of the simple things around you - the sound of the birds in the trees, the smell of your coffee brewing - and you'll probably notice instantly that there is something preventing you from immersing yourself fully: your thought traffic. If you've ever tried to make a fancy dinner with a bored two year old in your presence, or tried not to think of a pink elephant (try it right now!) then you'll know the feeling. This is where mindfulness practice comes in.
The 21-Day Mindfulness Challenge will help you to:
Learn how to practice mindfulness and create more calm, joy and focus in your life TODAY! Are you ready to take the challenge?
Where does The 21-Day Mindfulness Challenge rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
A refreshing new take on mindfulness meditation and practice. Not too much 'fluff' in this book, just clear and to the point instructions. I thought it was a really great idea to add in a 21 day challenge, I'm already on my 4th day and it seems to be working great. Those times when you feel a little stressed, its nice to just breathe deeply and be able to appreciate the present moment and relax your mind from all the stresses of life. Cool book!

Where does Mindfulness: The 21-Day Mindfulness Challenge rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I've had this book on my Kindle for a while now, but prefer audiobooks nowadays. The style of narration takes a few minutes to get used to, but I like the flow and how it keeps me focused on the text.
The book discusses what mindfulness is and provided simple steps for beginners on how to start acquiring this state of mind. This 21-day-guide would be very ideal for individuals who often experience distracting thoughts and emotions causing them to lose focus and attention. The steps given here is to help you explore mindfulness initially by yourself.
The challenge is something every beginner can do as a start before actually entering a mindfulness course (that is in case you may need or want to involve yourself in a formal training in mindfulness techniques) or can be your main guide to acquire mindfulness (especially if done repetitively) without going through any formal course or training. Good guide!

I found this book easy to listen to and entertaining. The book is not too long so you should be able to get through it quickly - or take your time with each chapter to get the most out of the author's advice. Listen to a chapter and let it marinate in your mind before moving on. I liked Francie Wyck's style of narration. Very nice series.

If you are even remotely curious about this book, just read it! The author provides a lot of good information and support, and it's presented in a way that is (mostly) easy to swallow. I received it as a New Year gift from a Coach I've worked with; initially, I was resistant, but once I was able to let my guard down a little, my need to explore these points became clear. Recommended!

The book and narrator are great, but I wish I'd have ordered the paperback instead of the audible version.

This was the perfect book to help with my burnout recovery. You only need 5-10 minutes of concentration to listen to the daily chapter and I found the exercises to be realistic; not too challenging but really helpful, especially when you proceed further into the challenge and all the little changes and activities start to add up. Highly recommended!
