I understand the book is not an in-depth discussion of the topic, but providing a section at the end of the chapter with more materials to explore on your own would have been helpful for the topics the author avoids discussing.

I believe it should be used in most classes to reinforce the basics. The two issues I have is that the exercises require an exact answer that can get kind of ridiculous sometimes to answer (Ex: missing a single space), and sometimes the author avoids discussions by saying you don't need to know this, or this is how I do it (relating to style types).

    "Javascript Coding the helpful book."

I really like this book and if I could I would give this book 4.5 stars. The exercises are well worth the cost. I think the layout of the book is exactly how programming should be done. Providing a short explanation of a topic and then you spend 5-10 minutes practicing what you learned.

The magic of this book is that delivers the subject matter in quick to read, bite size portions. This is further reinforced by working through the exercises on the website after completing each chapter. Say I've been away from the material for a week, no problem, I rewind through a previous chapter as a quick refresh to reboot my memory and then move forward through new material.

I have tried using my courses as well as tuts premium courses but somehow the teachers go straight into complicated stuff I don't quite get. This ebook is the perfect book for anyone wanting to learn javascript. As a matter of fact, most of those tutorials online don't go into the simple details like this ebook does.

This is a great book for anyone interested in JavaScript. The beginning goes a bit too deep into it background but I guess it's somewhat helpful to know about why the author is chock-full of browser discrepancies.

    "Worth....best book"

This book is very long and can seem quite overwhelming to start, however it takes you through the process very smoothly at a good pace, and gives exercises along the way to enhance the learning. The screenshots help understand each process better and I like the fact there are links to all the resources you need to start coding. The history of JavaScript was an added bonus at the beginning which provides a bit of context.

I think this book is great. It breaks JavaScript into bite-size chunks and then gives you interactive exercises to drill what you've listened to it until you retain it. I prefer this method of listenin JavaScript to other methods I've tried online

    "Excellent book"

Javascript is a very dark matter for me personally And i want to learn how to code. Without help it is impossible. This book is very helpful beginners guide, even tho in my eyes I'm not even a beginner. But if I understand it, people who know a little on the matter will find this listening it even more helpful. It gives fundamental details, step by step.

Would you consider the audio edition of Javascript: Javascript Coding for Complete Novices, Volume 1 to be better than the print version?

I really loved both the version.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved all the examples which they have given.

    Any additional comments?

Browsers are very forgiving JavaScript parser. However, lax coding style will hurt you when you shift to another environment or hand over to another developer. This is my suggestion if you are looking for a guide to practicing and learning more about JavaScript.

Super well written by a really good author. After listening to dozens of half-assed, incomplete online "write-ups" on JavaScript that obviously are just rehashes of some other half-assed website, this book is REALLY REFRESHING. I had forgotten how nice a well-written textbook can be. And no offense, but my official language is English, so it's nice to listening to a book written in impeccable English.
