Summary

You might know someone who is in a relationship with someone who is emotionally abusive, or you might be in a relationship with someone like that yourself. Or perhaps you don't know how to recognize it and are curious how you can recognize the signs. Whichever the reason, you have come to the right address.

Informative and interesting guide

This book reinforced everything I had been thinking and feeling. I refer to it often for reminders of what I do not want and why I cannot go back. I was not the crazy one or the bad guy in that relationship. Thank you, author. Well done!

Outstanding book!!!!

This author and therapist gives the finest advise for couples mired in this dance. She is a rare voice of compassion and hope amid what is generally an onslaught of condemnation for abusers. Thank you for this update!

life changing book....

Very interesting book - and written for both the abused and the abuser... from a very respectful perspective. If you're in an emotionally or verbally abusive relationship - this book might be helpful to listen

Useful Book...

This book can heal you. It's the equivalent of some kind of a magic pill in written form. And it's written purely FOR the victim and about the victim. It's not about the sociopath. It's about what they did to you, and why you're not wrong. I can only compare listening this book to being six years old, and being held and loved by one of my parents. It's the kindest thing you can give to yourself.

Amazing book

Emotional Abuse Breakthrough is the first of three books I am lg to listening my fears and move on with my life. The book was easy to read and helped me recognize abuse and give me strategies to feel confident and put my life back in order. I look forward to reading the books on the signs of emotional abuse and scripts. I need those too.

Informative, but could do with an extra chapter

This book is very informative about a range of topics, from identifying an emotional abuse situation right through to how to handle being in the relationship. While it was interesting, with regards to the abusive personality, I think an extra chapter focusing on the reader, rather than the abuser would be a welcome addition. Sometimes you just have to get out of such a situation and put yourself first. i felt this was rather brushed over.

This book is a good first step to getting help though. Sometimes admitting to yourself that you are being emotionally abused is the toughest step. This book will make you face up to reality bravely.

Alright

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I enjoyed the subject matter quite a bit. It was full of a good amount of information for such a short amount of time.

Any additional comments?

A well explained segment advising the reader in a similar sutuation on how to deal with the subject matter, and how the subject matter was far more complex than first thought of.

very informative

Really informative easily digestible book. Short yet sweet and a good groundbreaker for exploring the subject further. I would recommend this read for a first step into understanding this fascinating and disturbing subject matter. I downloaded this book having already left a particularly unpleasant relationship and everything I read confirmed that I was living with a sociopath! Good to have it confirmed as he made me feel like I was the one going crazy!!

The BEST book I have ever read on Domestic Violenc

The BEST book I have ever read on Domestic Violence. Includes recent research, myth-busting and more. Thought I knew it all- until this book. Should be compulsory reading for law enforcement, social workers etc. Liberating for women caught in a cycle- you will understand far better what is happening- how it's not 'your fault'.

A must read for every woman. And most men.

Excellent book. Recommended to us by a friend who has suffered and used women's services/shelters. It opens your eyes that behaviour you may have thought was acceptable was in fact not, and two acquaintances have now read this book and started to understand their current/ex's partners behaviour more for what it is. A must read even if you do not think it's for you.

This book helped me realise what was happening to

This book helped me realise what was happening to me in my relationship. I'm so grateful that the author made it freely available. One year later, my life is getting better and it has been a long struggle but when you can be honest with friends and family, you find that they already knew and will support you. A great book. Thank you

Wise advice

Great advice to build up confidence to speak out against those mistreating you. Very informative reading, gives a lot of easy to understand information which is extremely useful and worthwhile using in daily living in a non violent environment.

Useful guide

If you are suffering from any kind of verbal abuse this book will help you respond. It's not always clear what verbal also abuse is. It's like this: if a person does anything that makes you feel invalidated, hurt or confused on a regular basis, you are properly being abused. Learn about the subject and find a new way to deal with these people!

Harmful behaviors.

This book is the key to identifying emotional abuse. Many of us are used to suffer all kinds of abuse and therefore not identified as abuses itself. A great guide about social behavior and direct advice to put an end to the harmful actions of others towards us or to realize some of our abuse with others. From face your partner to avoid abusers, all that I found in this book. It has helped me so much and I want to thank Mandy Whomack for it. I recommend it.

Amazing Therapy in a book

This book had a lot of good information, however I strongly feel that anyone who wants to "work it out" with an emotionally abusive spouse should seek professional help first...and then use the suggestions in the book. The book makes it sound like seeking professional help is a last resort.
