You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Maybe some people will like this and given by the positive reviews some must, but for me this was not helpful at all. I think if you have never read anything at all on anxiety or panic attacks and this is a new thing then this might be the book for you. Otherwise I fear you may be hearing the same things again and again.

How could the performance have been better?
I just found the content really dull. Maybe it was because i have heard it before many times or maybe it was the way it was written and narrated, but not really very interesting at all and certainly didn't help with my panic attacks.

What disappointed you about Dare?
I had read EVERYTHING in this book before on the internet...for free.
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Some of the tips were ok, but this is all very very cliched stuff which has been repeated countless times before.
Any additional comments?
Not worth the hype. This book is all about hype and marketing, which completely failed to deliver. All cliched dull advice which is available for free with a quick google search.
Not worth it at all. Disappointed.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Needs to be more realistic.
Would you ever listen to anything by Barry McDonagh again?
I would consider it.
Would you be willing to try another one of Barry McDonagh’s performances?
The performance wasn't great but i always give people a second try.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment.
Any additional comments?
This book (and the marketing that surrounds it!) promised a lot and for me, totally and utterly failed to deliver. None of the advice and tips felt realistic or anything i could use in my life. At times i felt talked down to and other times the advice felt silly. Very disappointed.

This program is the only thing that has helped me since my first panic attack 17 years ago. I've tried everything so I was dubious about buying into another program. I am so glad I did 😃

DARE, really works and written with genuine compassion which is a huge step to recovery. There is a big movement of these ‘systems’ that really work and take us away from drug therapies which are really just pain killers and don’t treat the cause. Good luck
you must read or listen to this if you suffer from anxiety or panic. I listen to it repeatedly. Love it and love Barry McDonagh
I never leave reviews; never. I mean who cares what I think. But I’m providing this review because this book may help others as much as it helped me.
This book gave me a ton of hope. And I really related personally to Barry’s own story. This book helped me realize the racing thoughts and the feeling that I’m “losing my mind” and all the other things that come with anxiety is experienced by millions. Your anxiety is not as unique as you think.
Even though I have struggled with anxiety most of my adult life I really didn’t know much about it. This book was able to give me the knowledge to talk intelligent and efficiently about my anxiety to my therapist. I’m new to therapy and seeking treatment for my anxiety. But for me this book was as helpful as my therapy sessions; if not more helpful.
People had commented that the book is too long. I see where they are coming from but I thought the length helped reinforce the concepts that Barry lays out.
Listening to this book have me hope. You’re not alone and anxiety is treatable. Good luck!

Excellent! Very logical, makes sense and easy to implement. Gives you tools that work and has helped me get better control of my anxiety in the short time I've used it during the reading of the book!

I came across this book from a strategic ad on Instagram. Boy am I ever thankful that I downloaded the audio version. I listened to this whole book in less than one day. I have been suffering wth severe anxiety and panic for over a year, and because of it, have developed depression as well. The anxiety has taken over my life. Some days are better than others, but it always creeps back up. Listening to this book, I felt as if Barry was talking about me. He said EVERYTHING I feel and think...it was amazing. In one day I have implemented the DARE response and already feel how it helps. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is suffering!!! I look forward to this book becoming a habit of mine.

Everything that was said in this book was right on the mark. He described the different anxieties we could be dealing with, but you didn't ever get the skills to resolve them. I was very surprised when I realized that was all there was. Up until that time I was totally into it.

the narration was great. very clear and calming. the book, however, was the exact same points over and over. I had to check in the middle of the book to see of it had accidentally restarted because I had already heard it all before moments earlier. I also do not personally believe this method is worth anything but it may work for some.

As an anxiety sufferer this book was a gift. This is the first book I found to have everything I wanted and needed to hear. I'm not broken. I am and other anxiety sufferers are stronger than most. Thank you for helping me to see that there is a way out. And that I can and will be free to live the life I once had. Thank you!

The author makes a lot of generalizations about anxiety, however none of them seem to apply to me at all. The strategies don't seem applicable in the least. I don't have panic attacks. I'm not worried I'm going to lose control. I don't have dark unexplainable thoughts that scare me. I don't have unusual bodily sensations that frighten me. I'm anxious about my life and the future; generally about entirely likely, and if not, at least plausible things. I tried applying the strategies in the book anyways, and found they were almost totally unhelpful. What temporary relief that may have occurred seems to have simply been from the distraction trying. I think the book would be helpful for someone who suffers panic attacks, or has and wild unrealistic, or otherwise paralyzing anxiety.

This book changed my life. I no longer suffer from debilitating panic attacks and anxiety. I had massive panic attacks for 12 years, no more. The D.A.R.E. strategy used in this book works. I highly recommend it!

I listened to this book on audible. I've dealt with anxiety since I was a child, and no one I've seen has an approach like this. I'm used to a therapist telling me the same tired techniques that never really worked or just skipping the work and just prescribing something. It has opened my eyes and given me a new sense of hope in dealing with anxiety and panic attacks. Although there is still much work to do, I believe this is a new chapter for me.

Wouldn't recommend it. All it talks about accepting your anxiety over and over. Not worth it.
