About this listen

In today's fast-paced world, most people are familiar with feeling stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed. But a remarkable resource exists to ease these problems – nature.

BBC Studios Natural History Unit and environmental psychologist Alex Smalley have teamed up to create immersive natural soundscapes that will help you unlock this incredible healing potential.

Whether it’s learning to tap into the awe-inspiring power of thunderstorms or replenishing your attention with the sound of the rainforest, each soundscape will help to unlock mental health benefits that are grounded in academic research.

This series reveals the science behind how listening to the natural world can help tired minds recover, boost feelings of positivity, and even make us kinder to the people around us. Cutting-edge studies have found that virtual encounters with nature provide your brain with many of the same benefits as actually being there.

The evidence is clear: we can all learn to benefit from nature. We simply have to listen.

My head is full of bad news and the state of the world. I had just got to the point where it was all getting on top of me and then I started listening to this....

Wonderful... just wonderful!

I loved this. I'm very easily stressed and I definitely needed this to help me with my mindfulness. Its very calming and relaxing to hear the noise of nature - all the bird tweets and caws, the blowing of the wind between the trees etc. The narrators voice is also nice and calm and relaxing, which helps continue the feeling of it being good to help really unwind to.

I'd hoped to buy this as my Audible membership ends on Christmas day but it seems I'm not able to. Shame. I really, really enjoyed this and will probably re-join in the future to listen to it again at some point. More like this please Audible!. Things to close your eyes and relax to, escape into and forget all your worries.

A lovely, calming, unwinding podcast
