About this listen
That’s the thing about hearts - like waves, they break too.
Grief.
I’ve never battled with the raw, debilitating pain that comes with it. Then a twist of fate hits me out of nowhere, and I can barely keep from drowning. It’s like weights tied to my ankles in the middle of a raging ocean. I’m helpless, with no way to swim back to the surface.
But fate is crueler still, bringing my stepbrother back for the first time in years.
Cannon never wanted this family. Especially me. Still, he’s always been my greatest desire. And my biggest weakness. He’s unattainable. Straight, engaged, and with a seemingly perfect life on the other side of the country. It’s something I’d do well to remember, yet when he stays, it’s so easy to forget.
In finding solace together, we mend what once was broken. This loss bonds us. Changes us. He’s become more than a brother or a lover. He’s my anchor.
So how am I supposed to keep my head above water when I’ll eventually lose him too?
Head Above Water is a stand-alone, full-length MM enemies-to-lovers stepbrother romance novel.

The overall story and performance by the narrators was good and the journey the two characters go on was enjoyable to listen to but with the last ¼ of the story remaining it seemed to become repetitive to the characters lack of communication and expression of feelings! Especially at one certain point.
Will most likely come back and listen to this audiobook again once some time has passed and see if my opinion changes...
Overall was good but seemed to drop-off in the final ¼..

I will start by saying that it is a good book, great book. An emotional rollercoaster! And I liked it! But it was something that didn’t make me fall in love with it. The cheating part is one thing, even if that is kind of realistic, but also how Cannon handles that whole situation. And the relationship between Cannon and his dad. I wanted more details and background. Obviously they didn’t talk but how did they even get to that point they did. And there is a short bonus chapter in the end about when the MCs meet for the first time when they were 9 and 7 years old. It felt like that was a prologue…
Again, it’s a good book!
The narration is really good.
