Story
Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him. Ten years ago my darling son Jesse was murdered and our perfect family was destroyed. My strong, handsome boy, so full of life, became a memory, a photo I carried with me everywhere. But today I’m finally close to finding happiness again. My ash-blonde hair has been curled into ringlets. Carefully placed white flowers frame my delicate features. The small, drab chapel has been prettied up with white satin, and there are tiny red hearts scattered on the small table where I will soon sign the register with my new husband.

But, in the blink of an eye, her perfect life became a nightmare - when she found herself on trial for the murder of her little girls. Jonathan Hunt covered the original Slade Babies case for the local newspaper. Now that new evidence has come to light, Jon's boss wants him back on the story to uncover the truth. With Melissa's appeal date looming, time is running out. And, as Jon gets drawn deeper into a case he’d wanted to forget, he starts to question Melissa's guilt.

I didn’t realize the perfect day would turn into the perfect nightmare. I was so excited to send out the wedding invitations, carefully writing everyone’s names on thick cream paper in beautiful cursive script. I can not believe the stupidity of the heroine
I firmly believe that if someone is that stupid to wind up marrying someone after a one night stand, that she deserves all that comes her way! if it weren't for the baby, I'd have been rooting for the bad guy. TERRIBLE character. makes you hate her and her stupid choices!

You have to pity Kaitlyn being in such a toxic relationship with Alex. Listener is calling out for her to leave but you cannot help willing her on at every turn & issue she is faced with & I loved the way she finds strength despite everything.
The narrator gives an excellent account of all the characters & am looking forward to more from the author.

Why is this woman SO dense?
I am so weary of books where women are portrayed as idiots. This woman had a PhD, but she rationalized her husband’s behavior in a manner that was beyond belief. I found myself yelling at this book for all of this woman’s stupid decisions. It could’ve been a great book if the author had not undermined the intelligence of Kaitlyn. I know of no woman who would’ve let this go on as long as she did.
