Summary

Rozkročen mezi dvě staletí, několik pohádek a desítky mýtů vypráví Hastrman příběh zvířete s idskými vášněmi, divoké krajiny a člověka, křehkého ve své špatnosti. V první části přijíždí do Staré Vsi její pán, volnomyšlenkářský šlechtic a podivínský diplomat, který se dlouhá léta zdržoval v izině a pak se rozhodl pro klidný život ve staré vlasti. Nepočítal však s tím, že v nepatrné vesnici objeví elý nový svět. Druhá část vyprávění vrhá hrdinu do dnešní doby se všemi jejími zlořády a ečistotami. Jak vydobýt zpět to, oč moderní svět připravil člověka? Novodobá utopie, dílo pozdního romantismu, ale také pronikavý, velkoryse vyprávěný příběh o lásce, oběti a krvácející řírodě.
