I will caveat this by saying I read this as a palette cleanser after a really intense series finale that broke me, and it started off really really well and felt like the right book! I love the world and the premise and the history that led to this point and all that felt really original and interesting. The FMC feels like a real woman, and that was also great and refreshing but her journey to hooking up with Bishop felt frustrating at times (and not in a good way) with them both playing push me pull you inexplicably throughout. I felt that there were a few plot holes that didn’t make much sense and it could possibly have done with a better editor BUT having said that it did keep my attention, and I was invested in Arden and her family and her safety. The narration was tip top and had it not been I may have DNF’d but as it was so good I 100% will be continuing with the next one when the next book comes out! I hope that insta and Tik tok make more of this book than I have seen because it’s miles better than some others that seem to be on everyone’s ’god tier’ list that I didn’t love as much! Worth the credit for sure and a promising start!
