Summary

A crucial intervention for a society heading in the wrong direction, offering a new way to live in the modern age. Read by the author.

We are losing ourselves. We're chasing the wrong things, asking the wrong questions, and polluting our minds. It's time to stop, it's time to resist and it's time to rethink the fundamental social blueprint that our lives are built upon.

As an 18-year-old, black, broke, lonely, insecure, university drop-out, from a bankrupt family, I wrote in my diary that I wanted to be a 'Happy Sexy Millionaire' by the age of 25. By 25 I was a multi-millionaire having created a business worth over $300m dollars. Ironically, in achieving everything I set out to, I learnt that I was wrong about almost everything... The world had lied to me. It lied to me about how you attain fulfilment, love and success, why those things matter, and what those words actually mean.

In this book, I'll dismantle the most popular, unaddressed lies about happiness that we've been led to believe. I'll expose the source of these lies, examine the incentives that fuel them and replace them with a practical set of scientifically proven and unconventional ideas that will help you to live a truly fulfilled life, a life full of the love you seek and the success you deserve.

Promised funny but delivered business

Slightly disappointed as I personally enjoyed the sample which talked about the writer’s family life (mother’s character sounded like the book would be funny). But it was more about the normal everyday that most writers write about. Having said that, I like the writer and that’s the first reason I looked at the book in the first place. But I picked up a thing or two. So thanks for writing it.

There is a lot everyone can learn from this book

Loved this book, so much so, I'm going to listen to it again, writing notes.

Chapter 18,19 and 20 has the ability to ignite change in the lives of the reader, if they act on what was said. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Refreshing and saved me time.

I enjoyed this, and really good listen. Don't read or listen if you are closed minded as you are not the audience.

And congratulations for your success Steven I wish the UK celebrated achievements more.

Inspirational book, Bravo Steven.

The book encourages you to take a deeper look into yourself to start making real change in your life and stop self sabotaging and blaming everyone and everything for not accomplishing the things you want.

Are you fu**ing kidding me

Seriously one of the best books I’ve read, it’s as if Steven has been able to jump into my head and connect my dots, in life and business and even relationship advice.
Truly inspirational man and although some might say he’s outspoken I find him very humble.

You’ve got to check this book out whoever you and whatever life you live or trying to live.

Brilliant!

This is genuinely the first audio book I've ever managed to finish and I honestly believe it should be played in schools. Steven read it flawlessly and every point he made I fully resonated with. Brilliant book, I'll be buying the physical copy.

For people who lack direction in business

I wanted to read this after watching a review by Ali Abdul and then his interview with Steven on A Diary of A CEO. Bartlett comes across as very chilled out even though he is extremely successful and I wanted to find out how he balances his life with the demands of his business.

In terms of help for myself business-wise, I didn’t gain a lot of information that I was not already aware of but it’s extremely reassuring that you don’t have to work as a mentalist and sacrifice everyone and everything in your life for success. I found myself smiling and laughing along at areas of Steven’s journey that resonated with me - especially the part about anything that wastes my time I’m not interested in, especially when you can find a pro to do it for you; if only I had read this before I came to that decision by myself towards the end of 2021 LOLs.

4 stars and good insight into SB’s business mind, narration by him was frank and to the point but maybe a little fast (and yes, I do know you can slow the audio reading down) plus a quick listen (again, time is the key point for me) but a lot of the points in the book I was already aware of. However, I would highly recommend it to anyone who lacks direction in their business ventures as this will give you a good base of knowledge to start from.

Ignore the negative reviews - this book is ace!

When I read a business book I try to take one or two things away and implement them in my work/life. Stevens sand timer idea is a good one and reminds us of mortality. I've seen a few variations of this, but none quite so front and centre, and that's where it needs to be. Thank you Steven, you also made me rethink my end goals and ambitions, and my why. I'll be listening to this more than once and definitely subscribing to the podcast.
