About this listen

He’s the billionaire Beast of Calico Cove, and I’m his sacrificial lamb…I mean, his new employee.

Malcolm Bettencourt is a recluse with a nasty scar across his face and a bad attitude. He has a bone to pick with my family over a loan my dad can't pay back, so to save our lobster business, I agree to be his live-in housekeeper and cook.

We have nothing in common, and there’s no reason to think he would want anything to do with someone like me. Except I can’t stop thinking about him, and he can’t stop looking at me.

This Beauty and the Beast retelling includes a grumpy hero, a sassy heroine looking to lose her v-card, and a Pretty Woman moment with a black Am-Ex. Oh, and an age-gap romance with someone who may or may not be her lobster.

Love love loved this. Great slow burn. The only minus was the mmc doing the fmc voice. I couldn't stand it. I'll definitely listen again. Great free read.

Book 10/10 MMC doing the female voice 0/10

I didn't fully warm to the male's voice (especially when he portrayed the ladie's character)

loved this story, was too funny and whitty

I loved the female narrator and the updated saucy version of the twist on the Beauty and the Beasts storyline.
But unfortunately I found the male narrators tone of voice for the female characters very annoying.
I appreciate it must be very difficult to go from a naturally deep male voice to portray a higher pitched female voice, but other male narrators I have listened to seem to have managed this much more effectively.

A saucy modern day Beauty and the Beast

I feel very torn about this book. I absolutely love Samantha Brentmoore and the story is great. It’s funny and quirky and also relatable if you think about what happened to Malcom. A total let down however are the female voices by the male narrator. He makes her sound stupid and it sounds a bit like he is making fun of her (which of course he isn’t). His male voice is great but also a bit over the top in some places.
That being said I was still compelled to listen to it until the end!

different twist
