A hauntingly good sapphic paranormal romance from USA Today bestselling author Emma R. Alban.

A struggling writer falls for the hot ghost mom she meets in the iconic Dakota Building in a romance perfect for fans of The Dead Romantics.

Frannie's awful boss, celebrated literary novelist Henry L. Olsen, just told her that her latest manuscript is a dud—again. Frustrated and lonely, Frannie stomps around the ninth floor of the famously haunted Dakota Building in Manhattan, desperate for something to change. And then, something does.

Bridgette, the ghost of a little girl from 1889, appears out of nowhere and asks Frannie to play catch. Shocked and wildly curious, Frannie says yes to the ghostly invitation and soon meets Bridgette's ghost brother, Michael . . . and the children's exceedingly attractive and aloof 1960s ghost mom, Elsa.

Fascinated and more than a little flustered, Frannie starts secretly writing a book about Elsa (a.k.a. Hot Ghost Mom). And while her boss is on book tour, through a mutual affection for musicals, banter, and the ghost children, Frannie and Elsa slowly become friends, until Frannie finds herself tumbling head over heels in love with a ghost tied to a building she couldn't afford to live in over four lifetimes.

Now Frannie has to either give up her ambitions of becoming a novelist to remain Henry's assistant in the Dakota forever or somehow free her ghost family from their immortal home. With her career, future, and heart on the line, can Frannie find a way to write them all a happily-ever-after . . . life?

Emma R. Alban brings her signature swoon-worthy writing to another gorgeous sapphic love story that will have every listener yearning for their own Hot Ghost Mom.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and the story you're taken on. It was my first time listening to this narrator and she did a great job. I enjoyed the characters, and the fun little adventures they go on... However, I do have some cons, the main storyline of the book is Frannie hoping to move her ghost family across the street into her new home. It's such a major plotine, it pretty much takes up the whole second half of the book. However, once you get to the end (no spoilers), it felt like there was no payoff. For a book centralised around Frannie coming up with the ending to her book, whether to make it sad or happy, and you see her fictional character Charlie get her happy ending. This ending was left completely open, with the tiniest subtle hint of some flickering lights to convey whether their plan worked or not... literally. In all honesty, in a book that feels cozy with low angst the ending feels somewhat disjointed. That's to say I did enjoy the book, I would've loved to have seen more between Frannie and Elsa, sometimes their love seemed like a secondary plotline. But overall, I did enjoy it, it's a good book and an easy listen.

P.S. I wish we have a sequel, or mini story follow up.

1x POV, 1x Fade to black love scene, Minimal angst, Open ending (definitely not sad, but also like there should be more)

Overall I enjoyed it.
