Too theoretical!

This book is mainly about team EQ and group interactions, with a little touch on personal development. The content is too theoretical with minimal useful guidance in my view.

the book replicates articles from other hbs must read collection as the ones on communication and managing yourself. paid twice for the same content.

Mostly non-actionable unenlightening anecdotes

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The chapter on Agile Emotional Intelligence was the only chapter worth listening to.
The male narrator was nauseating and I found him unbearable to listen to.

Worst Monotone Narrator

Total snooze fest. I had to keep rewinding content as I would find myself thinking about something else. The content and case studies were very well chosen and were very meaningful. It's a shame they were narrated in the dullest monotone ive ever heard. Couldn't get through the one and now I want to go and return all the other HBR books I've downloaded.

Informative

I found this book informative and affirming. It reinforced things that I already do and think for the most part. I did not delve into the sidebar material. It's supposed to contain a lot more helpful information.

If you buy any book for emotional intelligence let it be any book but this one. Like sticking your finger in a light socket for 8 hours.

It gets you thinking

I like books that start debate and get you thinking. Some generally good ideas within the book. Being good at your job isnt generally good enough when you are trying to succeed in management. This is one of 4 books i have from the series in one of the areas i have probably struggled in most. Good for ambitious new managers or managers who habe struggled to climb the ladder after manager.

A business must read!

lots of really great information for anyone working in a business environment. Emotional Intelligence is a critical element for success that is too often overlooked or left to instinct.
