Summary

The final novel of the Kilo-Five Trilogy by number-one New York Times best-selling author Karen Traviss - part of the expanded universe based on the award-winning video game series Halo!

It's 2553. With the 30-year-long Covenant War finally over, the Office of Naval Intelligence faces old grievances rising again to threaten Earth. Angry and bitter colonists - still wanting to settle scores from an insurrection put on hold for three decades - crave justice...as does a man whose life was torn apart by ONI when his young daughter was abducted for the SPARTAN-II program. Black-ops squad Kilo-Five now find its collective loyalty tested beyond the breaking point when the father of their Spartan comrade, still searching for the truth about her disappearance, prepares to glass Earth’s cities to get an answer.

How far will Kilo-Five go to stop him? And will he be able to live with the truth when he finds it?

The painful answer lies with someone long dead and a conscience that still survives in the most unlikely, undiscovered place....

epic

very deep and thought provocative, with humour and wit. the main theme was more around the concept of humanity and secrets.

A fitting ending

It’s not the gunslinging, battle filled story some people want but it absolutely and resolutely is a fitting ending to the trilogy.

What it lacks in action it more than makes up for in depth and emotion.

Absolutely loved it.

Absolutely brilliant.

The Kilo-5 trilogy is the best of the best when it comes to Halo. The story is gripping, the characters are believable and enjoyable and Euan Morton brings it all together brilliantly. I wish that he would Narrate more books because 343's decision to use Scott Brick as their main narrator has utterly killed any of the books he narrated for me. Bring back Euan!

A great standalone trilogy

Very well written, sets up conflicts and resolves them in a satisfying way, and adds a bit of extra depth to an already enourmous world. And the performance was good too.

Zero Stars

I'm on a quest to listen to the entire Halo series from beginning to end. That's the ONLY thing that got me through the Kilo-Five Trilogy. And it took forever to get through because it was such a slog to finish that I got distracted by pretty much any and everything. The Kilo-Five series reads like Young Adult books. It's like they asked the author to just make all the characters as whiny, whingy, and emotionally unstable as possible. It's Halo for Twilight fans. If the next Book is as bad as this I'll have to consider just moving on to another franchise. NOT a recommend!

Kilo 5 Trilogy

By far the best string of Halo books. To get a better understanding of Glasslands, read/listen to Ghost of Onyx, but these 4 Books have kept me on my toes the entire time listening, with laughs, moral dilemmas, shocks, cries, you name it. as I make my way through all 29 Halo Books these being the halfway point, I'm going to find it hard for any of them to top these. the Narrator's are fantastic as well.
