Story
The prospect looked grim for Jed. Alone, his escape pod crashed on an uncharted planet with no hope of rescue. But after he died a painful grizzly death in the dry desert, things began to look up. The lifeless planet that Jed now roams turns out to hold a secret vital to the existence of life itself. D. B. Moreton-Reynolds takes us on a journey of discovery through strange and hostile landscapes, and into the depths of a machine so staggeringly vast and at the same time utterly believable.

Story
Felix used to be a traveling salesman, drifting through the galaxy and hawking his wares. Used to be, that is, until a freak accident in an out-of-the-way system. One rough landing later, Felix finds himself stranded on a wild, alien planet - front and center - in a deadly role he never auditioned for to entertain a secret audience. The upside? A fellow passenger made it to the escape pod with Felix. With this reptilian stranger at his side, he’s not totally alone. The downside? They don’t share a language.

Long ago, long before Sylver the weasel was born, the humans all left Welkin. Now life for a weasel - under the heavy paw of the vicious stoat rulers - is pretty miserable (unless you happpen to be a weasel who likes living in a hovel and toiling all hours for the benefit of the stoats). It's certainly not enough for Sylver. Or for his small band of outlaws, both jacks and jills. But slingshots and darts can only do so much against heavily-armed stoats, and life as an outlaw has a fairly limited future (probably a painful one, too). That's when Sylver comes up with his plan.

Chaotic portal-hopping through the multiverse
- By p14 on 16-07-21
Summary
Nature always fights back. Even after mankind had scorched the Earth with nuclear fire, the forests regrew. New life now flourishes where it can, strange and savage.
The distant descendants of the last survivors of Armageddon now live high in the interconnected branches of the vast forest, eeking out a simple existence.
The Story Tellers passed on tales of the Giants, and the Time of the Great Lights, but there is little or no understanding of what has gone before; the old world erased and forgotten.
Kel and his new friend Moss embark on a journey to discover whether there is any truth in the ancient tales - and what they discover is beyond their wildest imaginings
There are three stories that were written to form a loose series called The Sapient Continuum - Transplant, Greenways, and The Tribe (formerly known as The Inosculation Syndrome). Purists would listen to them in that order, but Reynolds-Moreton has crafted his tales so cleverly that they can be listened to in any order, or just those that you choose.
Fans of prequels might enjoy listening to The Tribe first. The astute listener may even find nods to this series in his other books, of which we’re proud to publish over 20 at the time of writing this introduction.

Enjoyable but lacking
I believed the premise was reasonable. The world building was excellent, however I suspect some details were purposefully left out to make us readers guess what was going on. What I didn't care for were the final chapters and how they were handled; It felt rushed, and I wanted to see more of the world and more details on what happen to the characters.

A Post-Apocalyptic World You May Enjoy
*This book was given to me by the author at my request, and I provided this voluntary, unbiased review.*
3/5
I thought that the premise was OK. The world building was good, though I believe that some things were left out intentionally to have us readers try to guess what was going on. What I did not like was the end chapters and how that played out - I felt that it was rushed and I wanted to see more of the world that was briskly whisked away from us. Even if it was about to come to an end, I would have loved to know more about the why and when. There were hints about throughout the story, and even mentions of a specific character, but we unfortunately never see them. One thing I am left wondering is about the physiological nature of the main characters. No spoilers there, but I am sure it will be addressed later on in the other books.
While I did not like certain aspects or the ending of the book, I did enjoy the beginning, the journey, the characters, and the world they were in. I would still recommend this to anyone who likes to read post-apocalyptic stories.

saga continues
I received a free code for this book.
Second one in the trilogy. Lots of potential story lines come up, but not explored. As for the first book I found somethings totally random, particularly tales of the past - where did they come from. I did enjoy the read, pleasant. But having listened to the first 2 books, will have to listen now to the third.
Narator excellent!
