Summary

Great organizations are made up of great people. And for leaders at all levels within those organizations, the ability to find, hire, integrate, and retain great people is an absolutely critical skill—critical to their organization's success, and critical to their own success.

But for most people, making great appointments is difficult, time-consuming, and even scary. Few have received any formal training in it, and there are very few resources available to make up for that lack of training. This book fills that gap. It provides the conceptual background and the practical, everyday tools needed to make consistently successful hiring decisions. Great People Decisions is a comprehensive resource for managers who want to improve their personal competence at hiring and promoting people, and also for students interested in the field. Yes, hiring is difficult, but it isn't a mystery. It's a discipline that you can master—to help your organization, and to help yourself.

Author Claudio Fernández-Aráoz has been in the business of finding and growing great people for two decades. Now, in Great People Decisions, he provides simple but sophisticated guidelines covering the entire range of issues inherent in the hiring, promotion, and delegation of significant responsibilities to high achievers.

Great issue. Masterfully presented

This is an excellent book. People are what makes an organization. Choosing the right people will always be the most important task of any leader. Claudio makes a compelling argument with sound support on this thesis, this book should be studies at all levels of the organization.
The editing needs to be improved.

Any additional comments?

Yes, if you could give us a chapter section for each book. I need to read the book out of sequence sometimes, and I need to be able to pick the chapter I have to read for each week. I can do this with my e-reader/Kindle, and I wonder why this device does not have this? If Kindle has it then surely audible aught to be able to have this technology also! It is important to get this on audible, I do not have the time to set and press play, then forward, and so on trying to find the chapter I need for each weeks reading.
This would be so helpful for those of use who use audible for our college courses!
Also, why do my books keep disappearing? I mean really!!! I don't have time for this. I go today to read/listen to Winning, and it is gone!!! I mean what the ....?

Hard to Follow

Too long. Hard to follow. Referenced graphs or charts in the story to understand something, but never explained it in words, so it made no sense to a listener with no visual.
