Tom Gray is an ex-SAS soldier who loses both his wife and young son through the actions of local hoodlums. Enraged that the justice system fails to administer anything like the appropriate punishment, Gray – with the help of his past Army colleagues – takes several young miscreants hostage and gives the Government an ultimatum in order to force them to tighten up the law.
Meanwhile, an enemy of the state sees Gray’s action as an opportunity to further their cause.
This is a superbly crafted thriller that raises many topical questions about the justice system in this country. It’s no surprise that this series has exceeded one million sales of the print and e-book versions. Meanwhile, the audiobook version is brilliantly narrated, with every character having a unique and recognisable voice, whilst the dialogue between characters is expertly performed. And the tension is built up gradually leading to the dramatic finale.
Highly recommended and not to be missed.

The Narrator was terrible , it was like listening to a kids story time with a voice which I can only describe as a cross between the actor Jim Broadbent and George the PInk Hippo from The kids Tv show Rainbow .
The switch between characters was painful , none were even remotely believable , it was as though someone had been given a job narrating and had never done it before.
Sorry to seem so harsh but it ruined what should have been so much better .
