Summary

Gossip From Thrush Green returns readers to that delightful English village, neighbour to Fairacre, for a golden summer. But this sleepy, pristine setting conceals a flurry of activity among the villagers. Rumour has it that Mr. Venables is considering retirement just as the village’s teacher is about to make an important decision. Molly Curdle prepares for a new baby.

The kindly vicar, Charles Henstock, works on his sermon - quite unaware of the disaster that will overtake him. However, there is never any doubt that all will end well in this very English village. Read by Gwen Watford.

Absolute perfection. Simply flawless!

I have discovered Miss Read and her incredible work only recently, but I am already a very devoted fan. The simple, age-old stories of human character at its best and worst are made a true work of genius, fun and pure joy and delight by Miss Read. Knowing I have so many books of excellent, beautiful writing, gentle and yet razor-sharp, ahead of me fills me with immense joy. Simply flawless.

Another delightful story

I am working my way through these delightful Miss Read stories.
These books transport you to a gentler way of village life. As good as any tonic as I convelest from surgery. The narration perfectly matches the story. Excellent

Pure Treacle

I guess Miss Read's book must be an acquired taste, So bland and lacking in any grit or interesting storyline, good stuff if you are having any difficulty sleeping.
