Summary

New name. New family. Shiny. New. Me.

Annie's mother is a serial killer. The only way Annie can make it stop is to hand her in to the police. But out of sight is not out of mind. The secrets of her past won't let her sleep, even with a new family and name - Milly. A fresh start. Now surely she can be whomever she wants to be. But Milly's mother is a serial killer. And blood is thicker than water....

She is, after all, her mother's daughter.

Well-crafted & intriguing thriller

Strong story told from an unusual angle. Left us wanting to know more about the characters (possible sequels?)

Persuasive reading performance.

Chilling

What made the experience of listening to Good Me Bad Me the most enjoyable?

The tone of the narrator matched the book so well, that I am pleased to have listenrd to the audible rather than read the book.
Especially the mother's voice.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character, none of the characters were particularly nice, but compelling.

What about Hannah Murray’s performance did you like?

Brilliant, seemless, brought the characters to life and chillingly so.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Daniel's death, and when she was in the stand.

Mood Forming

This was a strange one to listen to - a bit disconcerting, actually quite considerably disconcerting! Contrary to some other comments, I wouldn’t say the ending was so surprising. As the story plods along, the reader/listener becomes inured to where it is likely to end up. The narration was very good and sound effects good too. Well worth a listen.

A TWISTED, UNCOMFORTABLE & SAD STORY I LOVED IT

okay first off, everyone complaining avout Hannah Murray (narrator) can shut up, she speaks in a slow meaningful tone that sets the ominous tone of the book.

Annie/Milly she is a numbed out disturbed 15 year old and Hannah murray speaks as such but she changes her voice to fit the other characters.

This story was just so disturbing, scary and full of tension. It was easy to follow but it didnt include all the clichés of an easy thriller.

You dont know where it's going to go but you are happily being led by the hand down scary alley!

I LOVED IT, please give this a shot you wont regret it.

Reminded me of 'Beside Myself', Gone Girl, The Girl On The Train and Watching Edie.

If you loved messed up fiction, youll love this also the writer was a child psychologist so more than we know will be based on truth.

Dark and engaging audio page turner equivalent

This book had me hooked. Once in a while an audio books comes along that I can't stop myself listening to. I find myself stealing time to listen to it because I want to know what happens next and this is one of those. An audio book page turner equivalent.

It's and incredibly dark story and the actress playing the role does a very good job of keeping the tone serious and slightly on edge. You shouldn't listen to this book if you find stories of abuse and mental illness upsetting. It's not graphic but the actress portrays the emotion (or lack of it) well and it is very hard hitting at times.

I really liked that this book is from the perspective of one person throughout. In audio books I find myself engaging with books a lot more that only have a one person perspective because it's less confusing if you zone out for a while. This book has this making it even easier to listen to.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes dark psychological thrillers.

A bit different

The narrator was great. The dead-pan tone just right for the part.
We follow the story and thoughts of a 15 y.o. Annie/Milly as she is taken from her mother who is facing trial as a serial killer. Definitely a gripping story all through and right to the end. As the listener I was looking for "comeuppance". The end was something of a twist, but the ending didn't really leave me satisfied personally, others may think different.
There was a lot of originality in the writing and delivery of the story. Top marks for that at least. It does leave you thinking.

Great Story line

Fascinating, captivating story line. Had to speed the narration to 0.95 to make for easier listening to be honest; a little to slow for me but easily fixed. However the style of narration is understandable when you get the gist of the story. Hannah Murray is also great at giving you different characters. Worth reading for yourself. Looking forward to more of Ali Land
