Summary
An outcast magician must risk his body and mind to save the world from horrifying demons, in the heart-pounding epic fantasy sequel to The Traitor God.
Tyrant magus Edrin Walker destroyed the monster sent by the Skallgrim, but not before it laid waste to Setharis, and infested their magical elite with mind-controlling parasites. Edrin's own Gift to seize the minds of others was cracked by the strain of battle, and he barely survives the interrogation of a captured magus. There's no time for recovery though: a Skallgrim army is marching on the mountain passes of the Clanhold. Edrin and a coterie of villains race to stop them, but the mountains are filled with gods, daemons, magic, and his hideous past. Loved both books
Please write more, my only disappointment is that there is only one other book I can find by Cameron Johnston after this series.

Enjoyable conclusion to the series
Again this book was really enjoyable from start to finish. The characters are well fleshed out and the pace of the story is excellent.
The narrator is really good but I dropped a star due to the fact that the word 'grimace' is used an awful lot throughout the book and the narrator constantly mispronounces it every time which did grate on me a little. Apart from that Paul Woodson does an excellent job in telling the story

Brilliant, fully recommend
Brilliantly written. Loveable characters that deliver sarcastic dry wit , if you have a crook in humour this will deliver smiles all be them twisted ones. Within a story that will grip any fantasy fiction lover. fully recommend.

A great series
A dark, gritty and funny series that I enjoyed immensely.
The whole story kept me wanting to know more and still after finishing the series I want more but that being said the ending was perfect.

Devoured these books in a weekend
Brilliant!
Love these books from start to finish.
Great story, pace was good and thoroughly engaging.
Loved the characters. Walker is a great antihero.
Loved the language, writing style. Funny from the outset. Really well narrated. Sad it’s now over would love more tales of Walker and Evangeline

Epically Awesome.
Well, that was a bloody epic solid conclusion to The Age of Tyranny series. The God of Broken Things is the final book of a brilliant duolgy. This book was awesome in every sense of the word as it's predecessor The Traitor God. Cameron Johnston has built an intriguing and in-depth dark world in the first book and now reveals this was just scraping surface. It is so action-packed with blood drenched magical battles, godly being's, and scarab infested humans ready to do their queen's bidding to kill and enslave humanity. After the near destruction of Setharis, Tyrant magus Edrin Walker destroyed the monster sent by the Skallgrim, but the war is not over just yet, Edrin puts together an army of the clanhold and a coterie of mages. A Skallgrim army is coming, bringing with them gods, daemons, and dark magic looking to end Setharis once and for all. Absolutely fantastic storytelling, worldbuilding with excellent characters. If you love intricately magical systems and haven't checked out this series yet, I very highly recommend that you do, you will not be disappointed....😁💙💥⚔️🗡

A sequel that ups the stakes and delivers
A fantastic conclusion to the duology and a great send off to mighty Edrin Walker.
So the Age of Tyranny duology is undoubtedly all about Edrin Walker. He's a thief, a magus, a tyrant, and an arsehole extraordinaire. He's also charismatic and downright fun.
God of Broken Things does exactly what it needs to as the second and final book in the series. It upped the stakes, delivered on the mysteries and promises of book 1, and gave a fitting finale to the crass, foul-mouthed bastard who we've been following. It also tightened things up a bit. Book 1 (The Traitor God) felt a bit slow and bloated in places. The pace occasionally meandered it couldn't quite decide if it wanted to be a murder mystery, a dungeon crawler, or an adrenaline-fueled action spectacular. Book 2 does away with all the fat and leaves us with the grisly heart of our favourite tyrant. It has blistering battles, monstrous monsters, heartfelt reunions, and a glorious ending that just felt right.
It's also definitely worth noting that Paul Woodson again nailed the narration. He was an entirely believable Edrin Walker and really helped bring the character to life in all his aresholic glory.
I think I gave book 1 4 stars, but I'm going for 5 stars for book 2 and for the Age of Tyranny series as a whole. An absolute joy to listen to and I'm going to miss Edrin Walker.

This was enjoyable
The narrator was great, this and the first book story was enjoyable for the carácter’s had honest depth, and the main character personality is not contrived and felt like someone you know and like to hangout with ..
I recommend you give it a listen..

So much fun
In the main character I've found a kindred spirit, except I have no magic. This audiobook is a lovely escape, exactly what I was looking for. The characters are all deeply flawed, but the villains acknowledge no such imperfections in themselves. This is not a character study as the point is more one of entertainment than of philosophy.
The voice of the MC is well performed, but voices of distinct characters get muddled towards the end such that a change in point of view required relistening to some passages over and over. On the whole, however, the performance was more than satisfactory.

Charming Story
This duology is no literary masterpiece. Nevertheless I found it very entertaining and its "broken" characters endearing. Edrin Walker's magic is interesting and he quickly became one of my favorite characters. after listening to hundreds of audiobooks I am glad I stumbled upon this hidden gem - credits well spent.

a worthy fantasy
A decent follow up to the first book although corny and superfluous at parts. It could use a little less drama surrounding the battles and love story but overall a excellent fable. Would easily make a nomination for a Hugo award except that has turned into a giant pile of political garbage despite the previous titian's that were awarded it.
