About this listen

In the quaint river town of Geneva, Illinois, Kelly Clark comes home to restart her life after a horrific divorce. Give me Chocolate is the perfect amounts of keeping me on the edge of my seat, great plot, and a little romantic/relational drama sprinkled in. Who doesn't love a great story intermingled with references to sweet treats! Keep 'em coming Annie Hansen!!

This is my first book by Annie Hansen and it is a mystery.
I thought there would be more romance as I only read romance,and even though there is a love interest I didn't really feel their connection.
I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Amanda Fichter and I thought she did a really good job at portraying all the characters.Her voice was easy to listen to and I did enjoy her telling this story.
I can't really say to much about the story as I don't want to spoil the plot and reveal too much...But it is centered around Kelly who is trying to make a new start in the town she grew up in...Her story is a complicated one and she has gone through a traumatic experience.Which has her ex husband going to prison,she now writes mysteries trying to forget her past.
She is staying above her sister shop and one day something happens there that starts off some unusual events.
I never guessed who or what the suspect was and I was shock when it was revealed because someone or something is trying to kill Kelly.
In the midst of all this Kelly discovers her ex high school boyfriend has moved back to town to look after is Mum.Where they inevitably bump into eachother and the old feelings for him start to surface.
This is an interesting story with interesting characters and it is an enjoyable story that will keep you guessing.This is the first book in a series of Kelly Clark mysteries and it is a great begining which does have me wondering what the other books will be like.
A satisfying story and great listen.

For me this wasn't your normal cozy listen, as there are some parts which are a bit challenging especially the background of Kelly and the impacts, but it really worked for me. I got into the story and working out what was happening to the various characters. This worked well.
The narration really worked for me and added to the story.

I expected Give me chocolate (#1 in Kelly Clark mysteries series) by Annie Hansen to be a light and breezy cozy. Rather it’s a thriller with enough twists and turns to keep the reader checking over their shoulder. Kelly Clark returned to her hometown and her sister’s chocolate shop after a horrible marriage and divorce. She’s trying to rebuild her life but someone is stalking her and then there is a death in the shop. Worse than that, the police will not believe her, until the next death. The narration by Amanda Fichter is very good. I have to get onto the next book to find out happens next. I received this audiobook code for my honest review.
