Suspenseful cozy!
I expected Give me chocolate (#1 in Kelly Clark mysteries series) by Annie Hansen to be a light and breezy cozy. Rather it’s a thriller with enough twists and turns to keep the reader checking over their shoulder. Kelly Clark returned to her hometown and her sister’s chocolate shop after a horrible marriage and divorce. She’s trying to rebuild her life but someone is stalking her and then there is a death in the shop. Worse than that, the police will not believe her, until the next death. The narration by Amanda Fichter is very good. I have to get onto the next book to find out happens next. I received this audiobook code for my honest review.

the relationships between the characters
I loved learning about the characters. how they were involved with each other. going into such detail about every aspect of the subject. you felt like you were in a coffee shop.
the narrator was hard to listen to at times. it almost sounded like it on a computer. but the story was so easy to listen to and enjoy.

A really good cozy mystery
A really enjoyed this one. The story is involving and stylish. I loved the three sisters, the struggling author, the baker and the rich housewife I really felt a part of their lives and issues. Annie Hansen is a excellent storyteller and I look forward to reading more of her work. Amanda Fichter is a good narrator overall but just occasionally is a tiny bit monotone but still she does the story justice. I received a complimentary copy from the author and am leaving a voluntary honest review.

Really enjoyed it very different cozy
For me this wasn't your normal cozy listen, as there are some parts which are a bit challenging especially the background of Kelly and the impacts, but it really worked for me. I got into the story and working out what was happening to the various characters. This worked well.
The narration really worked for me and added to the story.

Mystery, Intrigue and Romance!
This is the first book in the Kelly Clark Mystery Series. This is a great start to the series. The characters are interesting, and intriguing. Kelly is smart, strong, and determined. I liked her sister, Nikki, and her old flame, Jack. The story has it all: mystery, intrigue, danger, drama, twists and turns, and romance. The plot is well crafted, and captivating. Amanda Fichter did a good job bringing this story to life. Looking forward to listening to Bean in Love, the next book in the series.

Loved it
I loved the story of the book and the characters were very relatable even as far as saying Adele reminded me of my sister. The mystery was excellent and I was hooked until the end.

Sweet romance and a hint of psychological thriller
This book took quite a while to get rolling, but when it did, it was hard to put down! There were a few unexpected twists and a great set of characters. I especially liked the dynamics between the sisters.
The narrator also took a while to get rolling. The dialogue was really well done, but in the first half of the book, I thought some of the narrative was almost robotic. However, as the story picked up, the narration did too, and I was fully immersed.
As a nice bonus, the red velvet cupcake recipe is included at the end.
