Worst ww2 fiction book I think was ever written

I can't say if the hole book is as bad as chapters 1 -5 as I couldn't bare anymore the story is about people having a conversation with a goal put that they work down strange boring and totally pointless

Could not enjoy this at all the voices sounded so mixed up bit of Durham mixed with Welsh twang and loud shouting. Lost me after chapter 4 sorry nothing at all enjoyable

Disappointed

I listened to about 30 minutes of this audio book and I’d had enough. The narration was awful, I couldn’t hear most of it. The narrator was either to loud or to quiet which made listening to almost impossible and therefore could not continue the book. Shame really.

Narration makes this difficult to follow

I am sure in paperback this is a great book, but the narration is strange and makes it difficult to follow.

Interesting Novel

An interesting story combining the lives of mining families including a few within them who possessed a higher IQ but returned to their humble roots "to do their bit " for the war, and their women who volunteered to work in a dangerous munitions factory.
The narrator had good character voices but unfortunately I did not gel with the overall presentation.

Terrific

This book is hilarious and as a southern softie I have loved learning the words of the north like the marrows “marras “ It is also lovely to see the “marras “ are not ashamed to show their feelings where their women are concerned. Can’t wait to read another book from this author.
